Satisfied Overall

I've used this mower for one season and I'm pretty happy with it.
Had a little trouble getting it fired up this Spring. It didn't fire up with the choke on and eventually flooded. It fired up after letting it sit a while with the choke and throttle open. Fuel injection would be nice, but it does fire up and ran reliably other than that first start of the year. My last Kohler served me well for 17 seasons and it's probably still going.
The rear wheels are fairly small, which seems to make for a rough ride on uneven ground and they seem to slip a little quicker than the much larger wheels on my last mower.
The steering system, as I recall, cost me an extra $500 vs the same mower with lap bars. That was a tough call for me but I think I did the right thing because 1) I have better control on my very hilly property with the steering wheel and 2) My wife would probably struggle with lap bars and if she ever used this one, she won't have a problem.
While this mower is a little faster than my last one, on days when the grass isn't too tall I could use a couple more MPH.
It's only been one season, but so far, I'm satisfied with this mower.

No more half day sweat fests mowing the lawn. I can now do my lawn in 20 minutes or less. This thing flies. My only wish is that I had a bigger lawn and grass that grew twice as fast! Thanks for a quality product. My neighbor wants one now.

This sounded like a good Mower, that is all the reviews - but when I contacted Mowers Direct they pushed me off to contact the Cub Cadet website and find a dealer in area to take it to for repairs. REALLY its only 2 weeks old. They DID NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT. They DID NOT OFFER ANY SUGGESTION TO WHY IT WAS NOT GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS?
I charged it on my American Express C/C and it has not been paid as yet by us. I feel the mower should be returned as it is a LEMON and we shouldn't have to pay anything. They should check out the product extensively before shipping to people. To make sure it has no FACTORY FLAWS. I am extremely disappointed in Mowers Direct and Cub Cadet. I had thought it was a good product. APPARENTLY NOT

Paid $4200.00 (to much). Did not know of mowers direct at the time. Harsh ride steering wheel adjustment keeps coming loose safety switch in seat shut deck off with slightest bump.

Seems like a decent mower, probably would just go w regular zero

Nice mower but at $500 more for the steering wheel it really isn't worth it. I have never used a zero turn so I wanted what I felt more familiar with, ie the steering wheel. It's pretty easy to operate but the steering wheel moves up and down to easily which makes it kind of uncomfortable. The turns are real nice and it gives a decent cut. It's not as fast as I hoped. Also the shipping wasn't great. I paid $50 extra for the elevator loader, which is a necessity.
Problem is the shipping company put a huge box between it and the ramp. That needed to come off but the guy couldn't do it himself. So I needed to either help him or return the mower. I than also helped him load his big heavy box back on. He wanted me to get my tractor but I was like I don't know what is in this box and I'm not getting sued. I thought it was very unprofessional. It also took what seemed like forever to get to me despite paying more for the fast shipping.

Mower arrived before scheduled delivery date. Easy assembly - hardest part was getting it out of the packing crate. Zero turn works as advertised, friends don't believe I have a zero turn with a steering wheel. Mowing just got a lot easier!

Cub Cadet RZT S54 FAB

The Cub Cadet lawn mower this built extremely well and performs flawlessly. It truly is amazing on how much grass is thrown from the shoot when mowing. This is the first zero turn mower I've ever owned and I am impressed on how little I need to weed whack after mowing. It is capable of turning very tight corners around the poles and trees I have in my yard.
I guess if I'd have to find any faults I would have to say it's a little underpowered. The only time I notice it is when the lawn is really long. All I've ever noticed is a little bit of bogging in the thicker grass. But still manages to power right through. Overall I am extremely happy with the club cadet and happy with my purchase.

I have been mowing grass for over 60 years now. I purchased the RTZ 54s---mainly because it can move over the ground at a faster speed. It cut the mowing time almost in half, and did a smoother job than any mower I have ever owned. I live in the country with 2 acres of rolling lawn. One edge has a very steep bank. This Cub actually sticks better than two other mowers I own. For me, this a keeper at a good price.
