Makita UC4030A Reviews & Ratings
Powerful, Quiet, Durable

Bought this saw a year and a half ago, I cut mostly camp firewood, and used it for several construction projects, tree forts mostly. I was impressed with the power, as well as the feeling of quality. I also have to admit I drove over it with my pickup truck while out in the woods and the handle broke. Surprisingly the rest of the saw shows no signs of damage after taking the weight of my truck. I would like to try the Husqvarna electric saw to compare it, but I am very happy with the Makita, and it cost about $50 less than the Husky.

I read a review that said assembly of the Makita UC4030A was a hand full, but, I found it to be easy. I did install the chain and guide bar onto the saw after I arranged the chain on to the bar. The drive teeth (there are two between each of the cutting teeth) have to be fully engaged in the spaces of the drive sprocket and then the rest of the directions should be followed.
This saw has about four extra pounds over my old McCulloch, but this really makes use of this saw effortless. I also find the tooless chain adjustment to be a real plus. I'm a turner, so I use this saw in my basement to prep logs for turning.
