Not Yet Tested For Performance...thankfully!
By Kenneth D

Purchased 02/01/2024 |
Review Posted 03/26/2024
Purchased and installed with ease. With a sump pump that engages several times a day, I felt it was imperative to have a backup system in place in the event of a power outage. I rest comfortably knowing that with the battery backup system installed, I have one less thing to be concerned about.

Very easy to set up and, so far, flawless operation during power outages. This is my second purchase of this unit (after installing a second sump pump at the opposite end of my large basement).

Great Back-up Solution For My Zoeller Pumps
By Tobias G

Review Posted 07/25/2022
I have now ordered and installed two SEC Sump Pump Sentry systems and I am very happy with their overall performance, ease of installation, and functionality. For me it was clear that I did not want a second pump in my pit and instead needed a solution that powers my main Zoeller 1/3hp pumps. The SEC Sump Pump Sentry system does exactly that.
Installation was easy I have both of them mounted on the basement walls above the pump pits there is however some puzzling with perfect positioning given that both the pumps have a limited power cord length and the power connector cables to the battery box are also rather short. I ended up mounting one horizontally and in the other case I had to move an outlet box to make it work. In most cases you should be fine without major relocations of outlets. I now had them jump to action twice during power outages and heavy rain storms, and they did their job well. I recommend this solution peace of mind!

Totally Worth It

I went back and forth between this and a back up pump. But I'm glad I went with this option. A good back up system costs almost as much and I'd have to pay a plumber to install it as that is a little outside my comfort zone with plumbing. So that would be at least an additional $300 to $400 and I have two separate pits/pumps. My biggest concern is that two pump back up systems won't fail at the same time. So if one goes bad, you still have to replace the whole unit. And I certainly don't want to be messing with that during a power outage.
With this system, if a pump goes bad, just unplug it and drop a new one in. And my second reason for going with this is my current pumps are relatively new so I would have had to toss them for a back up system. It's hard to calculate exactly how much this saved me but the ease of installation made it the whole purchase worth it. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can install this. It took longer to get everything into the crawlspace than to hook it up. You literally just plug a couple things in.
The manual that comes with the pump says it can be installed on the wall or on a shelf. I don't have studs in my crawlspace so I just built a shelf and mounted it horizontally. I saw one installation where they screwed a board to a joist hanging down and then mounted the inverter to the board. Just don't put it on the ground and you'll be fine. I also made sure it was not under any HVAC vents or plumbing pipes.
This is a little pricey (especially with my two sump pumps) but it is worth it and gives me the extra peace of mind if we're away or have a severe storm. And finally, Jim was super helpful and answered the one question I had almost immediately. I'll probably add a second battery to each system when I get a feel for how long my pumps will run on standby. But this is plenty for now.

Easy to install. Feels well built. Don't forget to get wing nuts or hex nuts for the post on the battery. Not all batteries come with them. It was quiet when I first installed it but it does have a low buzz now after about a month.

Nice Backup Unit
By Steve P.

Review Posted 04/02/2022
Pros- Runs quite, switches perfect, Will run pump with power online if main pump fails.
Cons- Keeps battery charged to 12.7 VDC I would think it would be around 13VDC. Not sure if this is a con but have yet to run thru any backup pump process for extended time other then testing with it.
Running with the ion SS 1/3 HP pump. Nice pump match for Main and Standby and runs perfect with drawing low amount of current in back up mode.

Arrived in good condition, simple set up with easy to understand instructions. I also purchased a battery. Tested the system and it worked as advertised. I will not be able to see how it performs until we have a power outage.

I think this product is just what I was looking for to reduce risk in a power outage. It was easy to install, did not need a pro.
-Hopefully, I won't have a major storm and power outage, but if I do, this may help us keep the sump pump working!

Great for setting up a backup power to sump. Expensive solution though. At this price, consider whether installing a portable generator with a transfer switch is better for your needs.
