Not Good For All Applications
By Arnold W.
Kenmore, Washington
Review Posted 01/23/2020
A reliable control, but beware this one problem: It shuts off 10 seconds after the level drops 1/8 inch. Unless you are pumping a large area the pump will short-cycle. This cause the pump to draw a lot of current and burn out quickly.

Simply hose-clamped it on, plugged it in and my sump pump is working like new again! So much easier and cheaper than replacing the whole pump!

I needed a compact float/switch that could function in tight quarters and not necessarily be attached to the pump. This device was perfect.

Back Up To A Water Removing Pump
By John B.
Ridgecrest, North Carolina
Purchased 06/14/2019 |
Review Posted 07/08/2019
Bought this switch to give backup while I was away from home. Please note: my pump is not in a sump, but the area where the water encroaches is lower than the balance of the space, so the switch operates at an adequate level. I usually turn on the pump if and when water encroaches. with this switch, I can feel safe leaving my house for a week or so in the rainy season and when I return I will feel comfortable knowing that the entire area did not flood. Most importantly it works as advertised and is dependable. Enough said.

Manufacturer Response
Thank you for reviewing our product. We apologize that you experienced an issue with the Dual Float Controller. From your description of the issue, the pump running non-stop, can be a debris issue. Debris can cause problems with a sump pump system. We recommend cleaning out the pit 1-2 times per year for a normal clean pit. You can use a wet shop vacuum or something similar to accomplish this. This may include taking the float switch apart to clean it. There may be debris on the inside of the float. In some severe cases it may be necessary to clean the sump several times a year to keep the debris from interfering with the pump, float switch or check valves. If you ever need assistance please contact our service team at 1-800-991-0466 option 3.

Bought this because the float switch on my brand new pump was flakey. This switch seems to be working fine and I really like how precise the depth can be adjusted.

Most likely you have some debris that is preventing the switch from turning on.

Manufacturer Response
We apologize that you experienced an issue with our product. We would agree with the advice provided from Sump Pumps Direct. Debris can cause several issues to any manufacturer’s switches ,sump pump and check valves. Most pump manufacturers recommend to clean the sump pit out routinely. We do recommend cleaning out the pit every 6 months using a dry/wet shop vacuum. If you continue to experience any issues please contact our service team at 1-800-991-0466 option 3.

Product Questions
Answered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
BWC1 questions:
1. Is the 15 amp limit for pump start or run amps? (Many pumps have start amps greater than 15) Will this work with a pump that has start 23 amps and run 10 amps or a pump that has start 16 amps and run 7.5 amps?
2. What is the distance between the bottom and upper float rings? For instance, if the bottom float ring fails then how much higher will the water go before the upper float ring is activated?
3. What are the dimensions of the BCW1?
Thank you.

I have a utility vault that i need to control water infiltration on. I have to control the pump within a 4" vertical rise in water. What switch will work for me. The vault does not have a sump area and i cannot put one in. Thats the reason for the four inch problem. I need it to come on when there is two or three inches of water in the vault.
