Needing A New Pump Assembly
By Kevin T.
Cypress, Texas
Review Posted 06/24/2018
Had it for a few years. The motor runs great however the pump is pure garbage. I had to battle with it every year. I finally took it in to a repair center and was told that this design was a disaster for B&G which is why they discontinued it. They were able to get it working by disassembling and cleaning both unloader valves. Was told if it bogs down again to replace the whole pump assembly. It worked for two months and now it bogs down again. Hoping that someone can give me the part number for a good reliable replacement pump assembly.

We are very sorry to hear you are having issues with your pump. If you are looking for a good quality replacement pump we would recommend the AR 2800 PSI 2.5 GPM 7/8" Hollow Shaft Vertical Replacement Pressure Washer Pump w/ Unloader Model: RMW2.5G28 for $179.99, plus shipping. We do sell other pumps that are lower prices, but not reputable as the one we recommended. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Great Pressure Washer For The Money
By Kevin W.
Athens, Wisconsin
Purchased 07/25/2016 |
Review Posted 11/16/2016
First off let me say that we are a dealer for these pressure washers and have worked on many pressure washers over the years. We have had a lot of experience working on very cheap washers that fail after a year of use. This almost had us to the point of refusing to sell any pressure washer with an Axial Cam pump. However this pump has a brass head on it so I decided to give it a try.
We have been using it for two years now and it gets used almost every day in the summer washing customer's equipment as well as our own vehicles. The washer has performed great . Also the washers that we sold have been working great for our customers as well. The engine is auto choking and starts super easy. We are also a Honda engine dealer and I will have to say that this engine starts as easy or easier than a Honda, that is the highest honor I could give an engine starting wise.
If you are looking to buy a pressure washer DO NOT buy anything cheaper than this washer. Take it from dealer with experience, they are a waste of money. Many people have written bad reviews about this washer but most of them have to do with starting issues after it has been sitting. Wake up people! Fuel these days is not what is was 10 years ago, its just that simple. If you don't put an ethanol combating fuel treatment and stabilizer in the fuel the last time you run it before storage you will have problems, it's just that simple. In fact you should really either avoid the ethanol completely or have an ethanol treatment in it all the time. It is also critical to drain the pump and hose before storage or they will break, plain and simple. Briggs & Stratton pump saver is also recommended to prevent the pump from drying out. A little money on maintenance is absolutely essential to keeping your washer running.
Cons:
The only real gripe that I have with this washer quality wise is the plastic guard in front of the engine has been broken in shipping on a couple of the washer we have gotten in. This part is not available separately so you have to buy a whole new frame to replace it. That isn't practical so we just put up with the cracked guard. This guard not a structural part of the frame so I consider that a fairly minor issue.
Now you might be asking why I wrote this review if I am a dealer and Power Equipment Direct is my competitor. I wrote is because I feel this is a great washer and there were lots of bad reviews for it that I feel are simply a lack of proper maintenance. I want people to be informed. It irritates me when incompetent people blast a great product because of their own lack of knowledge about small engines.

Very Nice Power Washer
By Dennis R.

Review Posted 04/25/2016
That power washer does everything the Briggs & Stratton says it does. I've read all the other stories about how it doesn't work after a season and it's a shame that people can use common sense when purchasing a product like this.
Of course it's not gonna run correctly after season of old gas. Did you put stabilizer in your gas? Did you read your manual... I bet not. Next time just go to a car wash...
(Nice power washer, keep up the good work guys!!)

It's also important to follow the storage instructions in the Owner's Manual about not letting the unit freeze, and using a pump guard product to act like anti-freeze while keeping the seals flexible.

Expensive Piece Of Garbage
By Eric R.

Review Posted 04/16/2016
Bought this power washer last year and used it twice. A month later, went to start it and spent over an hour trying to start then more than another hour trying to get assistance with issue. Customer Service wait times are ridiculous.
This was one of the more expensive power washers available and I thought by spending the extra money, I would be buying value. Wrong. What has happened to this company? Briggs and Stratton set the bar in small engine dependability and now I wouldn't buy another one if it was the only one on the shelf. Now, after 2 uses, I have to take the time to load it up to take it some place to get it repaired.
I have 6 kids and own my own business and no time for this type of unnecessary crap. Never again Briggs and Stratton, never again. How about you send someone to my house to just pick it up?

I checked our files going back 2 years, and I didn't see where you bought your pressure washer from us; I'm afraid we can't intercede on your behalf with Briggs & Stratton unless you are our customer.
That being said, once an engine has been gassed up it's against Federal regulations to ship it, since it's an explosion/fire hazard. That's why Briggs' Customer Service referred you to their Factory Warranty Service location.
Before you give up on your pressure washer, you may want to try letting the water run through your unit each time before you try to start it- just hook up the water and squeeze the trigger; it drives out the air from the pump. Since the pump and engine are directly connected, vapor lock in your pump will prevent the engine from turning over.
The other thing that might help is to loosen your gas cap when you try to start it. If there's something (grit, plastic, etc.) blocking the breather vent, repeated starting attempts create a vacuum, and gas can't get to the engine.

Will Not Start After One Season
By Nathan A.

Review Posted 03/26/2016
Bought this unit last year have been trying for hours to get it started. Why is there no choke on this machine and what is the deal with the electrical "on/off", seems like a potential for corrosion on a pressure washer.
I am really upset because of "Easter" dinner on our patio with the whole family. Thanks B&S......for nothing!

I'm sorry to hear you couldn't get your pressure washer started. I would hope that you winterized the unit according to your Owner's Manual- gas sitting over the winter can gum up your carburetor. It is also helpful to use fresh gas to try and start it- gasoline that's been sitting in a plastic container for months doesn't combust as well as fresh gasoline does.
If you've worked through the Starting and Troubleshooting portions of your Owner's Manual (there's an Owner's Manual link available here) and you still can't get the unit started, you may want to use Briggs & Stratton's Service Locator to find an Authorized Service location in your area.

Please feel free to reach out to our support team to further identify any issues you may be having. As the Product Expert stated, it is important to use a fuel stabilizer with your engine to prevent the effects of bad gas and to also make sure you use pump saver over extended storage to preserve your pressure washer pump. Our support staff should be able to direct you with any further questions or concerns. Please call: 1-800-743-4115 or visit the dealer locator. locator

We’re sorry to hear about the difficulties you are having with your pressure washer. As long as the fuel you are using is fresh (less than 2 weeks old) and the oil level is correct, the engine should start. If fuel was left in the unit during off-season storage, the gas may have gone stale and clogged the carburetor. Empty out any old gas, replace with fresh. Keep in mind, there is a 2 year warranty time frame covering manufacturing defects and workmanship. For warranty consideration, please take the unit in to a local authorized dealer, which you can find here: http://bit.ly/14yWuSi

Hose Ruptures
By Zach V.
Petal, Mississippi
Review Posted 04/08/2015
Bought this washer due to the high output. However, the hose ruptured within a few hours of use. Briggs and Stratton wants $112 for a replacement. So I went to this website and found an aftermarket replacement for 1/3 of the price.
Briggs and Stratton also has an awful customer service department, as I called on 3 occasions and each wait time was 20 minutes (I was told 4-7 minutes).
The machine itself is fine, just the hose is apparently cheap and the customer service there is non-existent. Also the soap dispenser leaks around the screw threads which are cheap plastic.
I suggest getting a different one.
