Starter Busted
By Richard F.

Review Posted 05/25/2024
Used 1 time. Now after less than 40 hrs. use the starter broke. Yes pull the cord ok and it rewinds , but starter not engaging. Broken after 1 use. What's it made of plastic ? The starter pawls are prob plastic. Great piece of junk now, or expensive repair bill. Gen was new 2021 stored and used the only time I needed it. Guarantee probably useless now. I'll call Briggs and Stratton . Good luck you say ! I would give B& G generators a 1 if I could.

A week after this unit was delivered, we had a nine hour power outage. Since my other generator was needing repair, I fired this one up and it perform well. Easy to use and the quiet mode was good.

This Is One Good Machine

The Briggs & Stratton has been used at two outside concerts and at our tent at the local Farmer's Market. It's perfect. We run a pop corn machine, shaved ice machine, and a cotton candy machine - it does its job efficiently and quietly.

So I did what I thought was my due diligence and barrowed a friends Honda 3000 last year and it ran everything in my tow behind camper including my 13,500BTO A/C but it has a price of $2200 with the wheel kit.
The Briggs & Stratton seemed like a great buy and offered a lot of fetchers that the Honda did not and its 1/2 the price so after watching reviews and YouTube videos about how the Briggs and Stratton will run a 13,500 BTU RV A/C I bought it and when we arrived at our campsite in VT we plugged it in and it immediately popped a circuit in full power mode. I tried again and again and made sure everything in the camper was off and it still won't work. I guess I'm king of screwed now because it would appear the only option for me is to buy the parallel kit and the smaller 2000 to run my A/C. This not is the price of the Honda that maybe I should have just bought in the first place.
I may write a letter to the company but really! who wants to be bothered with all of that crap! Maybe I'll get lucky and they will call me to make this right. Thanks for listening.

Great Generator

Used for the first time this weekend. Super easy to start, very quiet and it adjusts to the load put on it to save fuel and reduce noise. Light enough that I can load and unload it myself. Still need to try it running the AC in my camper but I don’t expect any problems. I don’t see any reason to pay more for a competing brand.

I was pleased with the ease of unpacking and setting up the machine and getting it ready to start. Maybe a half hour, and one pull and it started! I was impressed. I have not taken it on a camp trip yet, but will soon and believe it will serve me well. I like the overall look and the quality appears to be at least very good. I haven't used it under load yet, but I expect it may well deserve an excellent.

Just What I Hoped For

I purchased this to power the AC in my 5th wheel. The Q6500 would provide the ability to run the AC as well as the other appliances, but I only wanted to power the AC. I will run the refrigerator on propane. I have two Honda generators but nothing portable with the ability to power the AC. My history with Briggs and Stratton had me concerned about the noise.
To my delight, the generator runs very quiet. The noise does increase under load, but not excessively. I find it to be on par with my Honda generators. The built in wheels allows me to easily load and unload it, which was a real bonus. Definitely should be considered if this meets your power requirements.
