Leaked when arrived and was a hassle to resolve the problem until I was able to talk right with the manufacturer. Do not talk to Air Compressors Direct —they have no idea what theory they are talking about.

First the positive: the pump, motor, and tank quality are exactly what you would expect from a Campbell Hausfeld $570 purchase. The engineering is also good, as the belt shield also acts as a ducted air guide for the compressor and dissipates the heat efficiently.
The regulator and support were a disappointment. The regulator had a 35 lb. swing from load to no-load. I phoned the "contact us first" number on the product manual and was directed to a local "service center". My particular service center isn't directly affiliated with Campbell Hausfeld and I'm not sure that any of the people there had actually ever used an air compressor. They spent much time telling me that this was normal and when I informed them my older unit didn't do that they said the gauge was bad.
After learning it was warranty they said all they could do was box the unit up and return it to Campbell Hausfeld for repair. In the end I just plumbed in my older regulator from the original unit being replaced. If I had it do over again I would have thought harder about just purchasing and pump and motor and refurbishing my original thirty year old unit.

I bought this same C/H air compressor 20 years ago from the Montgomery Ward store in Parkersburg WV, before every one had pc's or mac's to order from on line.
This has been one fantastic piece of equipment. I sat it in the rear my garage, hooked it up through a filter into PVC lines to the front of the gArage to an overhead air reel and down the wall to a hose coupler.
It does not get a lot of use in the winter, but I just leave it on all of the time in the summer it gets used almost daily by young people filling their four-wheeler tires.
And, I use it to run a few air tools. My son and his friends use it to work on their vehicles it still runs as good as when I bought it. All I have done to it is drain the water from the tank once in a while adjusted the belt and added a little oil to the compressor.
Still running well after 20 years.

Looking for quiet

My compressor arrived boxed up and on time. So far it is what I was looking for.
Quiet as far as air compressors go and no leaks.
Belt drive is the way to go. The cast iron runs cooler and last longer in the heat.
