Product Questions Answered by Jared, the Generator Expert
Hello Jim. Question:What is the sheathing on the 30 amp 4 prong,25ft. power cord made of? Is similar to the very flexible rubber sheath found on some extension cords or is it made of the not so flexible plastic sheathing found on basic home wiring romex?

My generator is 8kW. The manual calls for a "NEMA L14-30" cord, but the specs on this cord say "7500 watt max". Why? Will this cord work?

I have 7KW generator at about 35' from the box. Would I be able to connect two cables in order to extend the line without loosing much voltage/ power or risking performance in any way? Is 25' the only length available? Thank you!

I have a GP7500e generac purchased from EGD - Now looking for power cable. 30 amp Cent. Wire & Cable (25ft) listed without max wattage? Also most other 30 amp cables at 7200 max watt. Does this restrict my 7500 watt genrator in any way?? What other options do I have??

Will the Century Wire & Cable (4-prong 25 ft) generator power cord work with a Briggs & Stratton 8000 watt generator (30471) and Reliance Controls 30 amp power inlet box?

JIm, I have a Generac xp8000e generator. I want to buy a 25' 4 prong cable but see that they are only rated up to 7500 wats. For the 8000 watt with 10k w surge on the xp8000e, does this matter? If so, which cable should I get.

Hi Jim! We are going to getup a manual transfer switch with an out side box to accept the cord from our portable generator. We want to get everything to handle 50 amp service but will be using a 5000 watt/20amp generator with a twist lock plug (L14-20R) for some time until we can upgrade it to a larger model. Question: How can we 'adapt' a 50amp cord to our L14-20R plug so that we don't have to rewire or replace the cable when we upgrade our generator? Thanks for you help!
