Reading these old reviews are hilarious

Bought used on FB for $500 with the mulching attachment. I haven't had problems since I purchased it 6 years ago. I'm not even that strict on the maintenance of winterizing. Do your oil changes and keep it clean. Have never had any problems with the engine, belts, gaskets, etc.

Been Good To Me

I bought this mower used on Facebook marketplace and that guy had it since 2012 I think and I’ve used it the last 2 years and have had very minimal issues. When I got it I did my research and saw that this engine has an issue with the valve cover gasket leaking so I fixed that and have had zero issues since. That gasket was like $10. I also change the oil and air filters every season like you’re supposed to and clean the mower after every use. So far it’s done great for me. I’ve seen the other bad reviews and maybe I just got lucky but I don’t think people maintain mowers like they should and that’s why other people have problems. Just change your oil and filters every year and check the oil levels before you mow and you shouldn’t have any issues out of this machine.

Been Good For Me!

After reading the reviews on this website I am frustrated. I have had this mower for 3-4 years now and have only changed the oil once, and never replaced the blades. I use it to cut and bag my grass and suck up and mulch leaves in the fall. I have not taken care of it and it keeps on going. For $1000 I can't be happier with the purchase. The deck is very wide, it starts right up and does whatever I need it to. I have had almost zero issues with the lawn tractor.
The only thing that I found frustrating was when I went to change the oil the one and only time after 3 years. The oil filter was stuck on and I could not get it off. I ended up paying $100 for the mower to be fixed at a local shop because I had damaged the filter to a point where I couldn't get it off. Don't be like me and change the oil, or at least put some oil on the filter seal (very simple).
Otherwise, these bad reviews are NOT the experience I have had.

I rated it a 1 because there is no lower choice. Total junk even the service tech agrees. It eats cutting belts at least 2 a year

Worst riding mower EVER started with problems when only a few months old. Frequent & never ending break downs. Only had 2 seasons.
Currently not working again. Waiting for parts to arrive. Will NEVER EVER buy another riding mower from Sears again. Lesson learned.

Not A Bad Mower

I got this lawn tractor a couple of years ago and I have to say that, minus a couple of small quirks, there really isn't anything wrong with it. It cuts nice, rides nice, is easy to maintain, and gets the job done.
I'm not thrilled about the inability to mow in reverse without after market modification and the controls for raising the mower deck are in a bit of an awkward spot but once you get used to them it's really no big deal. For the price of the machine it's worth the money.

How do you blow up a Kohler engine
By Randall L.

First off if you press the brake to stop, the drive belt jumps off. The mulching attachment is very cheap made and will not hold up very long if you are trying to mulch winter leaves. It is very slow on the slightest incline. I had to add oil every time I used it, but always kept it full. Finally the 22 hp Kohler blew up and it sounds like it is about to sling something out the side of the engine and it is only one year old. Should be under 2 year manufacturer warranty but I don't expect much from that when the Sears tech comes out. I was told it is an MTD machine and wish I had known that to start. I would never have bought this very cheap made riding mower.

The Craftsman LT2500 (46") 22HP Kohler Hydrostatic Lawn Tractor is a total piece of crap. Bought mine in April 2013 had to replace both spindles on the mower deck within 6 months. The Kohler engine blows oil. The reverse barely has enough power to pull itself, won't if you are on the slightest incline. Found out a lot of parts on this mower is made by MTD mowers and Craftsman just puts their paint on them. Have owned Craftsman in the past. Will never buy another Craftsman mower or product. Junk! Junk! Junk!
