There’s no sidewalk/curb guide, but the edger works well with both blades attached.

Easy To Ready For Use, Performs Well
By Howard F.

The unit arrived pretty quickly. It was easy to set up and get ready for use. It started on the second pull of the cord. It took a little time to get used to the blade lowering mechanism depth adjustment, which occurs via lowering the front wheels. Whereas, my previous Craftsman machine actually lowered the blade mechanism itself tightening the belt and making the blade rotate. The only negative was the belt broke after about twenty minutes of use, probably from friction heat which hopefully was caused by my too aggressive use. But in the thirty years, I had my old Craftsman I never broke a belt and only replaced it maybe twice in thirty years. I don't expect this machine to last that long, but neither will today's Craftsman. The Cub Cadet appears to be of decent quality and a good performer for most homeowners.

Excellent Piece Of Equipment

It's an excellent piece of equipment. This is my first purchase of this brand. It starts first pull every time. I really like the automatic choke that is built into the unit that I was unaware of. It cuts sharp and cleanly, and seems to be easy to maintain. I thought the unit was a bit pricey, but if it lasts me as long as the brand (MTD) it replaced (15 years), then in hindsight I would admit I got my money's worth out of it.

A Good Product

It is a good edger, and it's working as designed. However, the curb edger feature does not seem to work. The bolt probably needs to be loosened but has not been written down in the instructions. It is quiet and easy to use. Now about reliability, that needs to be seen as I have only used it twice while researching it. I read that the weak point is the belt breaking within a few uses, hopefully, they have fixed it.

Does The Job
By Robert S.

Purchased 08/21/2019 |
Review Posted 11/10/2019
I started my new edger on about 1200 feet of two driveways, two walkways, and streets of my corner lot that not been edged in about two years. The sod went from even with the street/walk surface dry, to two/three inches above street/walk surface and moist to moist. The dry area worked slow but ok. As the sod got deeper and moister, the motor started bogging down (slowing) as the damp dirt packed against the blade. I quit for the day. The next day, I found a very wide spacer and added the spare blade. The wide space between the blades let the dirt fly away and made all of the difference. The next time, everything went fine.

So much easier to use than those handheld ones, & it is so much stronger. I had bought two craftsmen 4 cycles, $199 each, & they both broke within one year, & there are no more Sears stores to take it to. This cub cadet is much better I now want a cub cadet riding mower.

Good Buy So Far

So far so good. I have used it a couple of times to do my yard & a couple of the neighbor's yards, & it has worked great. It starts easily, & it runs fine. It has plenty of power for what it supposed to do, it was a good buy. I had to loosen the adjustment bolt on the gutter wheel, but it works fine now.
