Under Powered & Over Priced

This thing does not have hardly any power. I bought it to replace a Troy-Bilt two-stroke and the Troy-Bilt has twice the power this thing does.

Great Out Of The Box

Opened the box, removed the shipping/protective pieces, and had it running within 15 min. The trimmer comes with a bottle of oil, so you just need to fill up the gas tank.
The instructions on the side of the engine need to be followed explicitly so that it will start up and stay running. Took me 2 tries because...well, I don't like to read directions!
Added bonus that it comes with a bush-cutter/edger.
Ran the trimmer for a solid hour without any problems. Easy to use!

Really Impressive

This is my first experience with Club Cadet and I am really impressed with this well built machine. The four cycle engine runs for about an hour on a tank of gas at full throttle and starts easily. As this is a four cycle, you don't have to run this at full speed, even when using the brush trimmer. The shaft is strong and solid and does not heat up. Being able to take the attachment off the trimmer makes it easier to store and transport.
I have put in at least five hours using the brush trimmer attachment. It is really well designed and solid. Does not jam with debris and has maintained its sharp edges.
Be aware: this unit weighs something like 16 pounds, so your arms and back get a good work out. I really like having a four cycle engine and expect this unit to last a long time.
My only quibble is the shoulder harness -- it's pretty bad. The clip is always popping off (note to Club Cadet: please use a different clip in the future) and does not distribute the weight over your body. I would recommend purchasing a real shoulder harness for comfort.
So far, I'm very happy with this purchase. A great value for a string trimmer that includes the brush trimmer head.
Last thought: this unit is loud. Definitely wear ear protection.

I bought this after my new 2 cycle one wouldn't start. Now not even a year old and this one won't start. When it did you could tell it wasn't running right you had to feather the gas to keep it running. I strongly would NOT buy this product.

Never ending battle

I was working for this amazing family doing things around their house including yard work and taking care of their animals. They had purchased this brushcutter so I could clear out some brush and build a fence. Every time I went to push on throttle it seemed to lose power until I released the throttle. I couldn't seem to do the job that they had bought this piece of equipment for. It felt like it was a waste of 250$.

Sorry I Didn't Buy It Local

The trimmer arrived one end of the box was heavily re-taped, was missing Styrofoam padding. Contents looked to be thrown in the box. I unpacked and looked everything over it appeared to be new and never assembled. As I had work in the back yard that I ordered the trimmer for, I decided not to send it back and assembled it. I put gas and oil in it and fired it up. The engine would not idle when warmed up with the choke off. The brush cutter was very loud and made a grinding noise. I called Trimmers Direct, and told me that because I put oil and gasoline in it I can not return it, and that I have to take the unit to the closest manufacture's servicing dealer. which was 50 miles away. I received the unit on the 15th of July, took it to the service center on the 20th of July. Today is Aug 3rd, and I don't have it back. They are waiting for a new gear head for the brush cutter. I believe Trimmers Direct sold me a customer return/open box item and didn't say so in the online catalog. The Trimmers Direct Rep told me they would never send an item that was not in a factory sealed box. I'd like to believe them but I'm finding it very hard to do so. I think they unloaded an albatross on me. I am very unhappy with this whole transaction, and my trimmer will be the last thing I ever buy from them.

I am sorry to hear that you feel misled. I assure you that we do not sell anything that is returned without notating it on the site as such. We are not in any business to mislead anyone in purchasing an item that is not in new factory condition. Unfortunately, with this being the lawn season, service centers are often behind in repairs and the manufacturers are often delayed in their ability to get parts sent out in an efficient time frame. I apologize once again for your dissatisfaction with your order but appreciate your honest review. If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
