Recoil rope wouldn’t retract 2nd time used it. Customer service replaced it but by USPS, not faster. Since replacing operates ok. FYI, be prepared to waste lots of cutting string because at best about half is thrown away

My DR trimmer is so much easier to use than a conventional line trimmer. I wish I had purchased one
years ago. Even my wife likes using it. You can’t go wrong owning one. We cut a full acre and still doesn’t need line replacement.

The trimmer has worked as expected and is easy to use. I would recommend that you purchased the string and maintenance supplies as I tried all Tractor supplies and other stores, and they did not have any string size 0175 or .155. I ordered string, Echo Cross-Fire .175 Trimmer Line 3-Pound Spool) 314175057 online. I have not used that string yet, but it appears to be heavy, like the blue line that came with the trimmer, but appears to be tougher with 6-sided edge. Looking forward to cooler weather where I can try it out.

DR Pilot Walk-Behind Trimmer Best For Price

I did a lot of research and read dozens of review on walk-behind string trimmers. Most came in at $400. I bought a DR Pilot because for the money, it had the largest engine (174cc) and could accept a larger diameter nylon cord for tough vines. I'm clearing out an acre of invasive oriental bittersweet vines that have already killed a dozen tall hickory trees. With the larger diameter string, this trimmer easiely cuts through the toughest 1/2 inch vines and anything else in its way. Easy to maneuver and starts on first pull.

Open box, remove, add oil and gas, and away we go!
Trimmer arrived quickly with shipping notices sent to update me on when to expect delivery.
I trimmed fence lines and dog paths trying to help my girls beat the fox tail battle. The trimmer cut thru the grass and weeds with ease, it’s lightweight and easy to maneuver. It cut thru half to 3/4 inch Sagebrush and other nasty weeds with ease.

Was very worried because of all the bad reviews on Google and other review sites, but I kept the faith, and I am not disappointed. Packaging was great, delivered to my door, no missing parts. Shipping was about 5 days. Started fine and I cut 2 acres, no issues. Tip the string will pop out a few times at first, just put it back in and soon it will become playable and stay in. I think I had to do it maybe 3 times before it didn't do it anymore. The blue string is awesome, does shorten fast and I cut all that with hitting rocks and stumps and have not had to change the first set of string yet. Wonderful machine. Btw I live on a mountain with very steep terrain. Worked awesome!!
