Vector Tiller--Easiest Tiller I've ever used
By Leif Ringstad
Earthquake Director of Sales
Review Posted 10/17/2014
The Vector is a super light, easy to handle front tine tiller with enough power to break sod.

The low center of gravity gives the tiller superior in-row stability allowing you to get closer to your plants without losing control and accidentally damaging them.

The outer tine shields are removable, along with the outer tine-gangs which means that once you have the garden tilled in the spring, you can easily turn the 21 inch tiller into the most powerful mini-cultivator on the market.

Backed with a five year limited manufacturer's warranty, the Vector front tine rototiller is the best performing, easiest to use rototiller in the market.

Not Happy
By Barney K.

Review Posted 06/15/2017
My son gave me this tiller 2 fathers day weekends ago. I've always used it as a cultivator and to break up the soil where you walk between the rows or when I'm planting seeds I'll go over the soil to smooth out the roughness left by the tractor from the plow and discing and deep cultivation. The soil is always loose except where it gets walked in. This year when planting my garden I was rototilling a row before planting when the motor acted like it bogged down and stalled. Like it always has it started with 1 pull and I just kept going until I got to the end of the row and this time the belt jumped off. This time I pushed the tiller back to the garage and pulled the cover to check on the belt when I discovered the transmission had blown up. It literally was in pieces.

Now my complaint, I've stopped at three different factory authorized repair shops and was told the same thing without them even looking at my machine, Earthquake either won't pay them what the jobs worth or only pay half their posted labor rate so they won't work on any earthquake equipment any more. What good is the best warranty on the market if no one will honor it?

Good Little Unit

I was skeptical that it was only 100 lbs at first, I needed to bust sod on a 16x16 plot and was a bit worried about the light weight. Having primarily used a 6 hp walk behind Troy-Bilt in the past, I didn't know what to expect.

Busting sod: use the 16 inch tine setting, going to 21 is essentially subtracting 25% of your power, progressed at multiple depths and had it to full depth in an hour and change. Be patient. This is not a monster, it will not rip through sod and roots like a $600 tiller.

Great tiller, motoe is too small

I bought this tiller from TSC about a week ago and have used it several times. I only use it in already worked up ground and it worked fine. It really did a god job especially the second time around. It's not made for breaking ground. This tiller would be great if at least 50 cc's were added to the motor. Still a great machine if used in already worked ground. It's all I need.

The tiller will till the ground well but when it runs about 15 minutes it dies and is hard to start. About 12 pulls on the rope to get it started again.

Quitter!
By L. A.
Michigan
Review Posted 05/24/2014
This tiller will quit in heavy (but previously tilled) soil and when it hits a root. And then it will NOT start again for any amount of pulling! I walked away and waited for it to cool down and tried again...still will not start. That is why I have time to write this. Maybe if I wait until it is completely cool...say an hour, I'll try again. This is the second time it has done this to me and it will be the last! Back to the store it goes. Save yourself the effort of buying, hauling, assembling and trying to use this tiller. Buy a different brand altogether.

Manufacturer Response
We are sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with our tiller.

The problem that you are describing sounds at first glance to be related to some debris in the carburetor float bowl. Sometimes when there is a little fleck of debris that makes it's way into the fuel tank, and then into the carburetor bowl, it can stick in the needle, causing the carburetor to be stuck in a "Rich" condition.

Please contact our customer service group at 1-800-345-6007 Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Central time. We will be happy to help you with your problem, or to locate a service center to have the carburetor condition fixed.

Buyer beware ...

The Earthquake company promotes this tiller as powerful enough to "break ground" but when you call about a warranted issue and you tell them your were breaking ground they will tell you the machine is not intended to break ground and that voids the warranty. So buyer beware.... product pretty good ... company dishonest!

Tiller didn't have the horse power
By Steve

Review Posted 05/28/2013
I don't have a large garden, 30' X 15' so I was looking for a compact tiller. The ground had been tilled the year before so it was not new ground. I made sure the tiller had oil and I added gas. It started very easy on the first pull. I let it run for a few minutes and got to tilling.
I found that once the tiller dug down, it would start to bog down and often times would die. So I pulled it back to start it and the same thing would happen. I managed to get one length down the garden, turned around and started in again. The engine went "ping" and died immediately. I could not get it started again. So I packed it up and returned it. Got a front tine with a 206 CC and it did not bog down at all. I feel the 98cc motor was just too little for the task. This size of the motor should be on a cultivator rather than a tiller.

So far so good

The depth drag stake is poorly designed. It has to be removed or raised so that after starting the tiller I can walk it from my storage shed to the garden.

Then it must be lowered and pinned at the desired depth at the garden. This is a problem if you are 75 years old and have arthritis.
My previous tiller had the stake attached with a bolt to the tiller where it would pivot forward at the bottom allowing me to set the depth and pull the bottom front of the stake up and secure with a bungee cord clearing the ground. Then I could walk the tiller to and from the storage shed without further adjustments. When I got to the garden, I could remove the bungee cord and I was ready to plow. When the plow clogged with dirt at the wheels, I could tilt the tiller forward and easily kick out the clog. This maneuver is more difficult to do with the permanently positioned drag stake between the wheels on the Earthquake.

The engine is surprisingly strong and it burns very little gasoline. I may need to adjust the engagement clutch a little since it clanks with a loud noise each time I engage it.
