This Saw Is The Best Ever
By Tanner H.
Home, Kansas
Review Posted 02/10/2019
I have owned Stihls and Echos and this saw is the most reliable I have ever owned I did the muffler mod and readjusted carb runs better then ever starts right up in 10 below weather plenty of power I have had this saw 2 years and it has outdone the Stihls and Echos by far I have never had one issue ever with it. I left gas in it 6 months still started right up I’m looking into buying another one best saw out there.

Great Chain

Review Posted 12/29/2017
When the saw came from the store I was very disappointed with wood cutting ability. The saw had plenty of power but the chain wouldn't bite will. I bought a 3/4" chisel chain and really like it. It's aggressive and uses all the power of the saw. Great product.

Oiler leaks, the saw wouldn't start
By Eduard L.

Review Posted 05/31/2016
It seems like my experience with this saw is similar to what other people say in here.

1. Very weak engine. This saw wouldn't cut anything bigger than 8 inch in diameter. Stalls easily with if you put a very mild load on it.
2. The oiler was leaking from day one. So, you always have to keep some plastic cover in your truck and in your garage.
3. The worst problem with this saw is that it wouldn't start! Sometimes, it will start after 5-7 pulls, sometimes 20 minutes would do the trick!

Definitely it doesn't worth the money you spend on it.
I am very sorry that I've purchased this saw.

Without a doubt the sorryest chainsaw I have ever owned
By Russell F.

Review Posted 07/22/2015
I am 66 years old I have owned some of the best chainsaws there was. This Earthquake 18 inch saw is by far the biggest pile of junk I have ever tried to work with. I have had this for 2 years, it has sat in my garage all of the time. You can not get it started. When it does start, it is way under powered for the 18 inch bar. In 2 years it might have run all of 2 hours. You can't get started, big waste of money.

Manufacturer Response
I am sorry to hear about the trouble. It sounds as though it may need a carb adjustment. After the products sit for a while the carb may need to be readjusted or replaced if it was stored with gas.

What a disappointment--DO NOT buy this product!!!
By Syed

Review Posted 11/14/2014
DO NOT buy this product. It does NOT function. It is impossible to start this piece of junk! Now, I am stuck with it and can NOT return it. I've tried to return it and called the manufacture both of them told me that the only option I have is to pay a repair company to diagnose this brand new chainsaw.

I don't know how to use a chainsaw, that's why I had an expert who works with chainsaw on a daily basis to get this thing working. I watched him take it out of the box, add whatever oil is necessary, and tried to get started. He tried several time, it did not start. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Husky Stihl replacement
By Matt R.
Brazil, Indiana
Review Posted 02/23/2014
I've cut wood for about 7 years to heat my house, last year at the end of the year I generally ran with a Husky 357. Two commercial Stihl saws and on occasion a junky but newish 14" Echo trim saw... Last year I had some help cutting. A buddy would fill up the saws with oil and gas while I grabbed another and kept cutting thus cutting 2-3 times as much wood in the same amount of time not stopping to tighten chains. Slowly, one by one the saws quit running or failed to start after using the same saws nearly 3-5 years and only doing routine maintenance. I figured this was to be expected then I found my buddy failed to clean around the gas caps before refilling thus clogging my carbs.

I heat with wood still and my saws have been in a junk shop since November. Well I guess I should say busy shop they come with good reviews but I've been 3.5 months waiting on my saws to be fixed and still I'm on a waiting list out of wood and my Grandpa's newer Husky made in America sucks compared to my old one. I've had to work on it basically every ten minutes since I started so I bought this saw and returned his to him letting him know if it's under warranty return it. His is 20 inch and is considered to be a ranch or farm type saw, an upgrade from the entry level. Let me just say this Earthquake entry level saw is running circles around his Husky.... And I've not had to work on it. I will say first start I thought it wasn't going to and it had a problem I was ready to throw it in the car and return it then it finally fired and since has been easy to start and has performed much better then I expected and the chain has stayed very sharp and quick cutting through three trees. This evening, very good if you ask me, and I'd think I'd be a good person to place a review based on experience I've had. Anyone who is new at cutting wood is going to dull chains quickly by cutting rotten wood or putting the chain in the ground. Time will get those people to learn from that. Yes you should purchase a few extra chains if you plan on cutting much at all but mine has lasted through three trees and still cutting quickly and starts as well as any other saw I've ran with. Good saw, good price. Longevity, I will find out over the next couple of years.

Difficult To Start The First Time You Start It
Waste of time & waste of money...

November 2013. I bought this chainsaw at Menards to cut a 12" tree in my front yard. All I wanted was to make 4 cuts so I could haul the branches to the backyard. I assembled the saw as described by the manual and the chainsaw would not start. I double checked the assembly instruction, re-mix the gas/oil ratio and the couldn't get it to start. No matter how much I pulled, the motor won't turn. Instead of calling the people at Earthquake, I went back to Menards and explain the problem to them. Even Menard was trying to get me a hard time, since I put gasoline into the unit. After a while, one of the employee decided to help me out. They put gasoline and try to start up the one that I was having problem with. He pulled a couple times and couldn't get it going too. I told him to open another one and try to start it up, if it runs then I would be more then happy to exchange for that one. So he went and open another exact chainsaw and try to start it up. Again, the new one didn't start up either. After a couple tries, they refunded my money.

I went to Sears and bought a Craftsmen. Boy, it started up the first pulled.

Instead of an hour, I wasted 5 hours on this project running, complaining and frustrations with the team at Menards. This chainsaw is worthless and a waste of money. I will never buy another EarthQuake made materials. Just beware for those of you if you're not a mechanic.

Do not buy this saw unless you're a masochist

I bought this from Menard's as a pre-run unit. I didn't need it to cut down a whole forest, just some medium trees. After running for 5-10 minutes it shuts off, and good luck getting it started again. I about pulled my arm out of the socket and it still didn't start. Nothing seems to be wrong with the motor, spark plug, or fuel system-it just will not start. I will spend more money on a better brand and have something that will work and be WORTH repairing!

It took 1/2 day to start the saw the first time. Now it starts on the first pull. Why wouldn't the factory run each prior to shipping?

Purchased this saw and found it useless. It was hard to start the first time we used it. Used it for about ten minutes and turned it off to adjust chain and could not get it started again. Smartest thing I did was to return it to Menards where I had purchased it less than two hours prior and get a full refund. Not worth it nothing but trouble.
