Sewage Pump

I’ve had this pump about a month now. It was a direct replacement for one I had in my pit for 16 years which the float switch recently failed. Figured I couldn’t go wrong with another just like it and I still have the old pump as a spare backup.

Great Pump, Price And Shipping!

Review Posted 06/25/2022
I installed a Flotec sewage pump (same model) about 12 years ago in preparation for a basement bathroom. Well, a long project that still isn't done since I now go south for the winter. Anyway, so far I've only used the sewage basin and pump to accept and drain my home's water piping when shutting down the house for winter, since it's the lowest point in my plumbing system. So, while this has worked well for the 12 years, last Fall the pump failed to run and emitted a horrible smell. I was sure the motor had burned up. With no time to fix, I drained the basin via wet-vac.
This Spring, I ordered a new pump from Sump Pumps Direct, same Model due to price and free shipping. It arrived in 2 days! Note: I looked at other pumps and read many reviews. Ultimately, I chose the same Flotec model as I felt 12 years was good a service life. No, it hadn't been used for sewage and only used infrequently, but it did stay immersed in water the whole time, and often non-use is harder on equipment than regular usage. So, I installed the new pump, everything fitting together perfectly.
Turned it on and it runs great and just as quiet as the previous one. I then took the original pump outside (not wanting the horrible burning smell indoors) and plugged it in...thinking it would go up in smoke. Well, all I heard was a subtle hum. I thought, oh, it's locked up. Turning it on it's side, I saw the impeller spinning away! The humming sound was just the quiet-spinning motor! So, I then dropped the pump into a 5 gallon pail full of water, plugging it in again....it shot a geyser about 10 feet up, emptying the pail in 2 seconds. No hesitation, no smoke, no horrible smell. After being immersed in water for 12 years, it still looks great.
So, what happened last Fall when it seemed to have failed? I have no idea as there appears to be nothing wrong with it, both visually and functionally. I'll just keep it now as a backup to the new and newly installed pump. Bottom line, this is a great pump, quiet and reasonably priced. With this vendor, the shipping is free and fast!

Reliable Sub Pump... Flotec FPSE3601A - 1/2 HP Cast Iron Sewage
By Frank

Review Posted 07/23/2021
When I ordered this pump, my sewer system was already down and not running ( not fun ). So, I was sort of bummed out that it would take ten days to a couple weeks to deliver. The new pump was sitting at my house in about 4 days. I was amazed.
I also was so impressed, saying to myself that years later, the same model ( which means all shape and size and dimensions ) would not be the same for an easy and quick replacement install. But it was... the pump was the same pump. So it went back into place without a problem.
And the Flotec FPSE3601A - 1/2 HP Cast Iron Sewage Pump w/ Piggyback Tether Float ran perfectly. Sump Pumps direct is a good company to work with. I was satisfied with my old pump and now with this new one.

Replaced an old one earlier this year when after 20 years it failed. The one I put In, which was identical…only 20 years, failed within months. They replaced it for free, but im out the second cost to the plumber, so $350 down the drain.

Replacing exact same pump that lasted 20+ years in a sewage sump. Pump was still working fine but float stopped working. Figured after 20 years I might as well replace the pump too while I was in the sump. Happy to see they sell exactly same pump 20 years later. Heavy cast iron strong pump never plugged. Sewage pumps should all be heavy duty like this one. Recommended. Shipping and tracking and overall experience with Sump Pumps Direct was flawless and outstanding.
