Franklin Sprinkler Pump
By Charles S.
MONTGOMERY, Texas
Purchased 11/12/2021 |
Review Posted 12/08/2021
Purchased as a replacement pump for a 10 year old Franklin pump that its pump casing broke due to freezing weather early this year. The old pump was still actually pumping fine but the water was spewing out of the crack in the casing. Have not installed the new pump yet, but if it works as good as the old one I'll be happy. I plan to install the new pump so that it can easily be disconnected and moved inside for the winter.

I was pleasantly surprised at how many sprinklers I could run I’ve run 20 heads and could do more once I get new pipe gaskets.

The pump and motor were frozen when I received the pump. I was able to grab the motor shaft and free it up. Now the pump works great.

Great pump with poor instructions
By Lisa V.
Desoto, Texas

Pump was delivered promptly and so far has met all expectations. The one SIGNIFICANT issue was the fact that the 3hp motor (single phase) came with wiring instructions that made the pump run backwards. Given that the motor direction was hard to determine as it is almost totally concealed and that there were no instructions as to how to reverse the motor direction, we wasted most of a day trying to get the thing to work properly. A ten minute call the following Monday morning had it all straightened out.
My complaint is that the seller KNOWS that Baldor motors typically come with wiring instructions that cause this problem and include NOTHING to give the installer direction on how to remedy it. Simply include alternate wiring instructions with the pump.
Also the pump design has the motor mounting plate approximately 3/4" higher than the pump housing, forcing the installer to create an elevated mount, but also the cast iron pump housing has a flat machined on its bottom that would appear to be intended to set on the floor, but it also has two tapped holes in it that would indicate that it might be a mount as well. No one at the pump manufacturer seemed to have a clue about actual physical mount instructions other than bolt it down. Not even a photo is available on the internet showing the pump actually installed, so it is left to your imagination.
Thanks you.

Completely Satisfied

Unsurpassed Made in U.S.A. Quality and fellow American technical support. This pump runs smooth, quiet, and strong. I expect it will still be running years beyond my time on this property. I wish I had bought this pump years ago, it would have saved me time, money, and maddening hassle. I am hauling the foreign made junk to the metal recycler.

I saved a 1/3 on the price versus local suppliers here in Dallas, plus no sales tax and shipping included. I installed the pump to pull water out of the lake for my sprinkler system within 24 hours and it works great. I thank you and my grass thanks you.

Product Questions
Answered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
I need to replace an irrigation pump that draws from a lake. Existing pump motor is a Baldor Industrial Cat. No. JL1323A. 3HP 230V 13amps 3450 rpm 60HZ 1phase. The setup is outside which leaves it exposed to the elements of Texas weather.
