Best Thing I Ever Did. No fuse, no Gas to worry about. Tests itself. Quieter than reg Generator. Don't have to find a place to put it or worry about someone taking it.

8 KW Generac Emergency Backup Generator

This is the second 8 KW generator I ordered and installed. Both were to replace older units that failed. Installation was easy. Setup was a snap. Registration was simple. Both units are doing what they should be doing, nothing. They are just waiting in stand-by mode.
I have both set up to do the weekly exercise on Sunday at noon. I check them about once a month. Everything is exactly like it should be. The digital display says the unit is ready to run in standby mode.
I would highly recommend a Generac Generator to anybody looking for a backup system for their house or business.

I purchased a standby generator from Electric Generators Direct. They are absolutely fabulous. The generator arrived in two days in perfect condition.
Any problems that I had with the installation were quickly answered by the knowledgeable Direct personal. I was delighted with with my whole experience.
I was so happy with this experience, that I will use Power Equipment Direct to by a new tractor in the spring.

Keep Up The Good Work

After numerous power outages in northern Indiana in July 2012, I decided it was time for a different gen set. I had previously used a Generac 7550 EXL manual gen set. I drove to EGD's warehouse in Bolingbrook IL. The sales staff was extremely helpful. I drove around to your huge warehouse, and the warehouse guys had it already sitting there ready to be loaded in my truck. Drove home (about 90 miles), and had some help in unloading it, set it on a pea gravel pad that I had built for it. Wired it up the next morning, only had to add N1 &N2 plus T1 wiring to my existing wire harness.
I re-piped my existing LP piping to the gen set using the supplied flex hose as a vibration damper. Worked well. Converted the gen set to LP, really easy.I had the 7550 Generac, so it was a no-brainer to go to a 8K generator, as my manual transfer switches were rated for that output. I put a new 26R battery in the gen set and it fired up on the 2nd cycle. Read the voltage and HZ outputs, killed the power to the house and transferred the load to the generator, It was only using about 13 amps per leg, so I have a lot on reserve power left for future needs.
It has since ran for 2 exercise periods of 12 mins. each. I ran it today manually, as I am running it so that I can get the 8 hrs. time on it, so that I can change the break-in oil and filter. I had 1 real power outage that lasted 7 min. The gen set was ready!!. Great generator, it's starting to quiet down now that it has 4 hrs on it.I have already have had 2 other people look at your products. Keep up the good work- you guys are great..
PS: I will revisit this site and up date the review once I get some time and real usage on it.

These generators are designed to be used with an automatic transfer switch. Please not that using a manual transfer switch may void the warranty.

I was looking for a really well built Generator. I checked Onan and Cat but they were too big for what I needed. I kept seeing Generac and have wired some up for customers that ordered them but I was not impressed. Generac kept coming up as the best choice for my customers needs so I finally ordered one. I studied this unit and have found them to be second to no one. The company building these is doing it right. Someone said it was noisey, it's a running engine and I thought it was very quiet. Thank You Electric Generators Direct.

I have installed 2 of these units in the past year for customers. They are excellent products. The directions are very clear, making installation simple. I would recommend Generac products to anyone interested. My only regret is that one time I ordered the generator that did not include the transfer switch. This caused me to have to order the switch separately which raised the price by $250 for materials and shipping. The complete package of generator and switch is the best buy. My customers are very pleased with their back up systems.
