Very first job while extended and power washing, the handle snapped, pole falls, bends pole and the belt strap ripped off. I’ve been doing this for 25 years and never had any of this happen ever pretty much garbage.

I'm sorry you had problems with this telescoping wand. Please give the folks at General Pump a call at (888) 474-5487 regarding the trigger - they will be able to help you resolve it or send you parts.

This is the longest, heaviest telescoping wand we sell - it does take a strong back and serious upper-body strength. It's intended to stand up to the rigors of commercial use. You may want to try using it at less than the full extension so you don't have to fight it as much.

For lighter weight, easier to manage Telescoping Wands look for models that don't have "Professional" in the title or the Fiber Glass models are lighter in weight.

Wand Is Great, But Buy A Better Belt

review 3 image 1
Amateur user with 4GPM/4200psi washer. The wand seems durable and of good quality. Bought it to clean siding on my 2 story house with walk-out basement. Wand wasn't quite long enough for the downhill end of house where the walkout basement door is (closer to 3 story height I suppose). had to use fully extended while standing on ladder (breaking safety rules but it worked). Fully or near fully extended it gets pretty heavy and more difficult to use, the belt seemed necessary to be able to manage the wand when fully extended. I'm 6'1" 200lbs. Unfortunately, the belt fell apart on me at the stitching during the second use. Came back on here looking for a better belt and decided to leave a review since my experience with the belt was disappointing. I'd recommend buying a better belt when you purchase this wand.

Built Well, A Lot Of Work To Use
By Scott H.

This thing is built well but it beats you up. It's unfortunately not very practical for long term use. I was hoping to keep the guys off the ladders but they can't use this more than 20 minutes and they are complaining. I gave it a shot because I thought they were being dramatic and its a lot of work to use. I had high hopes but we are back to the old way on ladders and lifts.

Will Work you to death.

This item is exactly as it is described. However, it will cause may BWC issues from the torque required to operate this attachment. I have no complaint about the quality of the unit. but I measured the torque required to operate the wand at full extension at more than 150 lbs and even the most hard-core worker will be "spent" in about 1 hour of use. It is a great concept of working from ground level, but once extended, the forces needed to use the device are extreme.

Five Days & Happy So Far

Five 8 hour days straight and good so far. I've been using it for five days straight. Seems to work fine, (it's heavy) but it's 24ft full of water with psi behind it...At this point in time, I'll probably buy another one when necessary.

Not What I Hoped For

Heavy to hold for very long when extended out even with belt. Glue adhering plastic sleeves to aluminum came loose after first use. Also have a fiberglass wand that’s only 18’ but rather stretch as far as I can with it before having to use this one. Plan on purchasing a fiberglass 24’ soon this aluminum wand will probably stay in the shop for a spare.

Quality Lance, Impressed
By David P.
Downingtown, Pennsylvania
Purchased 05/29/2018 |
Review Posted 06/05/2018
I read the reviews and decided to give this lance a try for a couple of reasons. I don't like that the fiberglass lance reviews said they're pretty flimsy when extended so I wanted to minimize that. Also, the last review by Christian S. told me what I wanted to hear, that it was worth the purchase.

I go by the premise that I would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it when it comes to tools. After a couple of uses, I can tell that this lance has the quality I need in a tool.

I'm 160lbs and don't lift weights at all, though I have years of experience with an 18' lance and learned how to balance and control it pretty well. Also, I have never used a belt because the ones I've had are junk. I think the 18' lance weighs 15 pounds and I can lift that without any trouble when it's fully extended. I think this one weighs around 20-22lbs and when fully extended, I have trouble lifting it, however, the easy fix for that is simply using my right angle siding elbow and nozzle. By squeezing the trigger this lance easily lifts itself straight up with minimal effort. Once vertical though it does take effort simply to not let it blow backwards behind you. Which really has to do with the angle of the nozzle, psi and machine. I was using a General Pump 25055 nozzle, 3100psi, 2.7gpm machine, and of course practice. Retracting the heaviest section made if just as easy to maneuver as my 18' lance.

There is minimal flimsiness once fully extended and what flimsiness I did experience really had to do with my own arm and muscle control which I quickly adapted. That being said, any lance extended 24' in the air is going to have some degree of wobble.

This is a quality aluminum lance and I'm happy with my purchase. This will make those difficult to reach places a bit easier to clean.

Mike, I'm having difficulty making a choice between the 24' MTM Hydro Professional and the General Purpose Giraffe Professional. Question: what are you getting for the extra $20 with the Giraffe, and, are their any design advantages that would suggest I go with the MTM Hydro?
