Great Mower
By Dean M

Review Posted 03/19/2017
Bought this mower 4 years ago at a Big Box retailer. I have standard sized city lot and mow quite often. I did not want the problems of storing gas and the maintenance. I bought an extra 146 wh battery (for a total of two 146 and one 73 wh) and the matching string trimmer and blower. All use the same batteries. I have one charger and have never had a problem. One charge will do all the trimming and cleanup (blower) as well as the lawn and usually have some time left. The mower is light easy to push. I like the single lever adjust and easy storage. As soon as I finish I put the batteries in the charge, one at a time and have them completely charged and ready to go in about 3 hours. Even if I don't mow for a week or two the batteries are still ready to go. The neighbors often remark "I never heard you mowing".

Only lasted 2 seasons

I really like the concept but cannot say I will buy the twin force 40 volt again. I do not have a large yard, I am not hard on my equipment, and I only mow once a week during the warm months. Within the first year the welding on the bagger broke. The blades quickly became dull and leave a line in the middle of the cut.
I bought the Greenworks trimmer to use the same batteries, but now the charger is spotty. Finally I pulled it out for the first mow of this season and halfway through the cable to the ignition lever broke. So I begin the process to dismantle to find the screw heads were an obscure shape and different sizes.
Given all the other problems I stopped wasting my time and decided I am going back to a gas mower. A couple more years of development should work the bugs out. It was great while it lasted. Light and easy to use.

Terrible mower

This thing gets "tired" and just throws a flashing set of battery lights when it "feels" that mowing for more than 20 mins is too much. I decided this year to buy the Honda gas mower to replace this ecological "gem". Not wanting to work definitely saves the environment!

Expert Response
Thank you for emailing us. I would recommend calling the manufacturer directly. They have a 4-year warranty on this mower, which will cover the batteries. And they can help you resolve any other issues. Here's Greenworks' phone number: 888-909-6757

20 inch twin blade mower

I'm on my second year with this mower. My property is 125 feet in the back, 100 feet to the front, and 80 in the front. The property is flat. I love the mower, it's light and easy to push. No maintenance, love that. I keep the batteries and charger inside all year as I live on Long Island, New York. I have two batteries, one is 146Wh and the other is 73Wh. The first year I could do the entire lawn with power to spare. On my second year of mowing my 146Wh battery will do about 65 percent. NOW comes the only problem I have. My 73Wh battery is dieing. Slowly but surely every time I recharge it and use it the charge is less and less. The stamp date on the battery is 3/24/13. At the rate it's going I feel it will only last another month before it will be completely dead. The batteries are expensive and I'm wondering if I'm going to have this problem often...

Flap

I like the mower. The only problem is that the flap along the back has a dip in middle, causing it to drag on grass and leave a line. I cannot see a way to tighten or remove it. I guess it's there to allow grass to be mulched. Otherwise, all is fine and easy to use.

GreenWorks 25302 G-Max 40V Lawn Mower

Review Posted 04/23/2015
We first saw Greenworks a GIE and became quickly impressed with their large assortment of lawn and garden tools. Not only do they have a large assortment of lawn and garden tools, but they seem to be pretty good quality. As for this mower, I would have to say it seems solid except for the handle. Now the handle should last you, but it does feel flimsy. As for mowers this mower is very quiet. To start the mower, just press a button and pull on the handle. There you go, no gas, no spark plugs, no mess and no fuss.
The mower is able to bag and mulch, but doesn’t have a side discharge. For me, no big deal because I haven’t used a side discharge since the 80’s. The mower is light and easy to push around, even on slight hills. I have to say while this didn’t win out top pick for mower week, this is a great lawn mower. Easy to start, plenty of power and the noise level is hard to beat.
What We Like:
Quiet
Lightweight
Powerful
Doesn't run full power when it’s not needed, Will ramp up when needed.
Two Battery System
What We Don’t Like:

Disappointed
By Debra H.

This mower doesn't have enough power to pick up tiny leaves in the lawn. I am concerned as to how it will work when fall arrives.
I am not going to mow my lawn short so that it will have more suction (as the book suggests).
I always mow on high setting in summer to save on a watering and keep grass looking better in our heat. If it doesn't pick up fall leaves it will be returned.
