After buying a weed eater backpack with a FAKE Honda. I am very happy with the real thing. It's much better quality and performance. Check what you buy, many fake Hondas out there.

Replacement For An Old Engine
By Thomas M.
Yukon, Oklahoma
Purchased 02/25/2020 |
Review Posted 03/17/2020

I purchased this engine for a direct replacement for my fifteen-year-old Honda weed eater. For the past two years, I began to have issues with starting, and at times the machine would die on me due to what I think was because of the carburetor. I began by taking it in to get it serviced at a local mower shop, where they were going to charge me $70 to $120 just to fix the carburetor.
Realizing, I gave the broad range because there were two quotes, one by phone and the second one in person. Of course, in person, the price went up to $120. They said that the job would take about a week to fix due to other jobs they had in front of mine, which was understandable. In the beginning, I agreed and left my machine there. Three hours later, I went back and picked it up from the shop.
I began to think about the other possible issues that I might of had with the engine that would cost me more to fix. With already being almost half of what a new engine would cost, I decided to just purchase a new engine and fix it myself. Not ever doing an engine swap before and hardly having any guidance or information on how to do a job like this, I decided to just do it.
There was a YouTube video on doing this on a Stihl weed eater and not a Honda.
Purchasing a new engine and swapping it out was the best decision ever. Honestly, it was very easy to do. Keep in mind, you will need to transfer some of the parts from the old engine to the new engine. As well as removing the metal protective cover from the new engine.
In the end, it is a direct fit, and you are just swapping out engines. If you are having the same issues that I had, I recommend doing what I had done. You will not regret it. The time it took for me to gather the tools I needed for the job, and set up everything, the swap only took me about an hour. I know it took longer then it should of, but for me doing this for the very first time and taking pictures during each step, I honestly think it’s okay.
The engine worked beautifully. I just added both oil and gas and they cranked right up. I can really tell the difference between the new engine from the old one. I also understand I could have cleaned out the carburetor, which would have been much cheaper, but I was worried that I would not have adjusted the carburetor correctly as what it was before I disassembled it. With the age of the old engine and other underlying issues that may have been there, I opt just to spend a little more and got a whole new one.
In addition, I cannot recommend enough to purchase the engines from PED. Shipping was super fast, which was wonderful since I was kind of impatient by not wanting to wait a full month just to get the engine delivered from another online competitor. I will definitely come back to PED for future purchases.

It was easy to install. Four bolts in the bottom, then put the pump back on motor, start and go. One thing you could do is put a warning on a machine that needs to have oil added before starting.

A Great Motor On A Pedal Assist Bicycle
By Russell R.
Swall Meadows, California
Purchased 08/08/2018 |
Review Posted 10/11/2018
This engine, mounted on a Golden Eagle rear wheel bicycle kit, would not take full throttle without bogging down. In fact, it would just die if full throttle was applied. After reading the GX35 blogs, I discovered the secret to getting full power is to remove the spark arrestor screen. I removed the complete spark arrestor unit and drilled a hole in the engine should for the exhaust gasses to escape. Woola! The engine now takes full throttle and made my bicycle a powerhouse, well... as powerful as a 1.3HP engine can be.

Very Impressive Little Motor
By Lawrence C.

Review Posted 06/21/2018

I purchased the Honda GX35 to use on my motorized bicycle. It’s a very impressive and reliable little motor. The oil is also very easy to change and requires no tools. Also, 1 quart of oil gets you roughly 10 oil changes. I am very pleased with my purchase. I just wish you could adjust the timing on it to get a little more power out of it but I’m sure that’s why it’s designed that way. Would definitely purchase again.
