It started quickly. The only thing I had to do was buy a drill bit to make a thread so I can screw in the on/off switch since it came without a thread. Also, I wished it came with a general sticker to but on the fuel tank to make it look like my original one. Haven't fully tested it out only once, and was impressed. Would buy again.

I received the engine well packaged, clean and dry. Installed the engine, put the requisite amount of oil and non-ethanol gas in, pulled one time and it started. It's an excellent engine.

Drop In Replacement On Mantis XP-16 Tiller

This was a replacement for the engine on our Mantis XP-16 Garden Tiller, which we use in raised beds which we have had for over 11 years and has been an indispensable tool on our farm. The engine was shipped in a form-fitted padded box with all documentation and arrived in perfect condition. Dropped right in even down to the connector on the spark plug kill switch. Once we added oil and fuel it fired right up and runs great. PED was helpful to make sure we were buying the proper engine as there is some confusion on Honda's own website about whether a vertical or horizontal engine is required.
The price on this from PED was also the lowest anywhere by A LOT. My only criticism is that the documentation does not explicitly list how much oil is required, or to what the engine orientation is to be when measuring it (it must be laying on its gas tank, flat side). That is the reason our original engine seized up due to having only about half the required oil in it (dumb mistake for certain on my part). I am very pleased with Honda engines, and will only buy them in the future for any small engine application as they are the only company that I have found which has a good parts replacement system/inventory. Try finding a new carburetor from Briggs and Stratton sometime. Not.

I received the engine in the manufactures foam fitted box with its manuals. It's a genuine Honda, and so far has lived up to that name. As with everything nowadays, only time will tell.
