Nice Small Saw
By Joerg E.

Review Posted 01/02/2019
A friend and I run the same saw. He runs is occasionally, I run mine quite often at clearing jobs on a narrow gauge train and on our yard.
This saw comes with a low profile chain home, which is fine for many jobs.
The saw is light making it easy to maneuver. I cut smaller woods and cut also firewood with it. Since the saw is light I use it for longer work steps during the day.
Starting of the engine is easy. Important is to pull the choke fully out at a cold engine. Pull. When the engine wants to start, push the choke back and start. Make sure that the chain brake is engaged.
I run the saw with Acylat gas which is ethanol free and does not affect the carburetor. When running traditional gas put a preservative in the gas and run the carburetor dry after work. Then you will enjoy problem-free operation a long time ahead.

Nice Small Saw

I bought this to replace a smaller Homelite that caught fire in my hands. This saw works so well. Starts easily doing as directions say. Cuts like a big saw. I am really surprised how fast it cuts for such a small saw. It's easy to fill with gas and oil. I use my compressor blower to get dirt away from the fill plugs, but a small cheap paint brush would work ok too to brush it away.
The saw is a really great buy and cuts really good. The air filter is easy to get at, I also plan to put a Stihl chain on it when this chain is gone.

Nice Saw

I have been running this saw for 7 years I heat with wood but no religiously. I cut about 3 face cord a year and the occasional yard cleanup and haven't had any issues with the saw. It starts easy I'm sure what people are doing to start the saw but if you read the manual and follow the instructions it starts every time hot or cold. In the last 7 years I have been running the same bar granted it has some heat signs but for 7 years on the same bar is good by anyones definition. This saw is light and makes limbing and bucking trees nice and effortless. It does take a little longer to cut hardwoods and you can bog the saw easily when cutting anything bigger or as big as the bar. Less than 16" diameter log it motors right through. A sharp chain is a must and the saw will cut through anything in NE United States like a hot knife through butter. Great saw at a great price.
For those struggling on starting here is a hint, once the saw kicks over with full choke drop the lever down 1 notch and make sure the chain brake is off. Give her another pull and she should start right up in the winter I have to give her a couple extra pulls but she starts easier than any other saws I have owned (Stihl, McCulloch, Echo).

JUNK 435-16

Hard to start. Idles rough. Won't idle when saw is turned 90 degrees. Kick back handle is very poor design. Bought this saw 7/12/16 at Northern Tool, guy said it was a very good saw. Internet reviews claimed it was a good saw. I disagree. Had a McCulloch saw for
over 15 years and never had a problem, but it finally gave out the other day.

Have you taken it to a service center? It sounds like it is either a fuel problem or a carburetor issue.

Helps my friend to clean up
By Joerg E.

Review Posted 06/08/2015
I recently showed a friend of mine what he can do with the right chain saw rather than with his chinese electric saw.
The job: He cuts usually pre-cut firewood 4-5 times a year and sometimes a smaller tree on his yard, about one food thick. We used this time my McCulluch cs 380 (also from Husqvarna) how fast it goes with the right tool.
Then I recommended him this saw. He is extremly happy with it.
41 ccm displacment (Mcculloch 38 ccm)
16 inch bar (good power at the bar, cuts smooth)
Soft handle (the Mcculoch has not that)
Quick off cover (the Macculloch has not that)
This saw is the right choice for temporarily use on the yard or when you intend to remove branches after cutting down a tree.
But do not underestimate whats possible with this saw. We cut down a tree about two foot thick. Took a while but did not cause any major hassle.
The saw comes with safety low profile saw. I recommend to run these chains unless you are well trained. Then you may change to faster cutting semi-chisel or even chisel saws.
Generally there is not THE saw. A saw is made for a certain job. If you need different jobs to do, you need multple saws.
I run:
460 Rancher 24 for big jobs
Jonsered 2234 for smaller jobs
McCulloch for mid-size jobs

It might be a very good chainsaw if you could get it to start. It is impossible to start. A friend has a 350 with a decompression switch that allows an easy start. Why in the world was the 435 put on the market without a decompression switch?

I got this saw around 8 months ago. I heat with wood so I have to have dependable saws. I like this saw the most because it's very light. It's not something for bigger jobs but does great on medium or small stuff. I find myself grabbing this saw for most of my cutting. Starts easy and cuts really fast and good. If your looking for a great dependable saw go with this one. I've owned Poulan, Craftsman. etc. Husqvarna wins every time. Spend the extra little bit for a great saw and company!!!

Chain saw works fine until I let my son use it. I guess I should have known better. He knows how to use one, but accidentally cut into the ground a few times trying to cut close to the ground. I would buy another!

I purchased a Husqvarna 460 and loved the saw so well I purchased a Husqvarna 435 to have a back up for light work removing limbs on trees that had fallen in the recent snow storm.
This saw started after about 6 pulls on the starter and runs perfectly. I am well satisfied with both of my new purchases of Husqvarna products and recommend them to anyone needing a chainsaw.
They are great products. Follow the instructions that come with the saw and you will be satisfied as I am.
