The deck is designed for discharge therefor no need for the shield. All it does is clump up and make a mess. Works great without the shield. Blades could stand some sharpening.

I looked for a long time to find the correct mulch kit for my tractor. The kits were on back order everywhere including the manufacturer. When I found it available here at Mowers Direct I immediately placed my order. I was anxious to get the package and get it installed! When the kit arrived I wasted no time on getting everything installed. I have since cut grass twice. The first time I thought the cut was sloppy because the grass was a little longer than usual. I figured the second cut would be much better, but it was NOT. This is by far the worst mulch kit I have ever used. I think this tractor cut the grass cleaner and without the kit. If there was a way to return the kit easily (walk into the store, Amazon, etc) I would return it and get my money back. I will uninstall when I find a little time and it will sit on the shelf in the garage.

This is a poor excuse for a mulch kit, the shoot is closed off but the kit does not have baffles to isolate each blade chamber. As a result all the mulch clippings are forced into the outlet chamber clogging it and causing this last chamber to not cut, it just pushes the grass over. Very little thought was put into this offering. Each blade chamber needs to be isolated to properly mulch regardless of the blades.
