I have to agree with John. This kit is total crap. The holes do not line up at all. I had to remove the metal support bracket under the deck then install this kit and reinstall the bracket. Took 2 people to do it and over 3 hours. The final result is the right side blade hits the kit. Serious research needs to be done into the issues with this kit. The kit can only go on 1 way so I didn't install it wrong it just has manufacturer issues. For nearly $200 it should line up and bolt on and work correctly

Custom kit requires MAJOR alterations to fit

I purchased this kit for my Z248F, with the understanding that this would be a bolt on custom made kit as advertised for my mower.
With this in mind, I allotted roughly 30 minutes of a Saturday afternoon for the installation.
Once I started the install, I quickly came to realize that my Saturday afternoon would be spent crawling around on the floor.
The instructions would be adequate IF, all the parts fit.
In fact, NONE of the parts fit out of the box.
Not one (honestly) hole was drilled in the correct spot.
I had to enlarge each hole to the point that the carriage bolts no longer engaged the steel. Even this wasn't enough. I then had to use a cut-off wheel to remove roughly 1/4" from the areas where the kit bolted to the original baffles.
Having spent the better part of Saturday installing this monstrosity, I no longer had the time or energy to try it out.
The day after the install, I used it for the first time.
It worked, okay. I have had better mulching out of 42" stamped mower decks.
When used weekly, cutting 1-2" of irrigated grass, it doesn't work well at all. It more-or-less holds grass clippings in suspension until the end of the pass where it dumps them . This then requires the use of a lawn sweeper to gather the excess clippings from the edge.
Last week I tried making two passes. The first pass I cut 1.5" and the second I cut 0.5". During both occasions the clippings were deposited at the end of the pass.
Honestly, I wish that I had just purchased the grass catcher. However, now I have a useless much kit (8 bolts required to be removed to take off) and an LED headlight. Both of which interfere with the grass catcher.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Z248F and the fabricated deck. The mulch "kit" however, I despise and wish that I had NOT modified to fit. At least then I could get my money back.
I hope Husqvarna sees this, this kit needs to be re-engineered to actually fit (novel idea) the mower decks they claim it fits.

I will send this to the manufacturer but these kits are designed to fit your deck without any drilling they have pre-drilled holes on the kit and the deck to just screw on, can you send me pictures of the kit installed so i can inspect it?

This is not what I received in the mail. Mine had black brackets that had to be bolted to the deck and did not line up because of the existing brackets. Not sure what those spring things are. Was able to get enough bolts forced and hammered in to make work, but was three hours of foul language...
I will fire up when it dries out a bit...sure hope it at least works...

Husqvarna has a universal picture for most of their mulching kits but the correct one was shipped to you and it should have instructions on how to install the springs. If you are missing the instructions or need any assistance, please give us a call and we would be happy help in any way we can.

I bought the mulching kit because I have two and a half acres and a ton of leaves.
The kit for my mower worked great!
It is just what the Doctor ordered.
