Showed up undamaged (big win). Fired up for the first time and the air hose inlet from the pump blew off. Re-seated it and tightened fitting. Still holding. Its not quiet, and its not that loud either. Seems to make air pretty fast. Hoping it serves me for a long time.

Industrial Air Compressor Experience

I wanted a compressor that was belt-driven, oiled and with a sufficiently large tank to eliminate the need for constant cycling. The device is in a workshop that has homes to the rear that have small children who go to sleep early. Quiet was important and was a product that was North American made. This compressor seems to satisfy those criteria. Initially, the compressor's motor had the unfortunate habit of blowing the breaker when air pressure got too low. When there was no pressure in the tank, there were no issues but with partial pressure, the motor would not spin the belt and the breaker would trip.
Sanborn Manufacturing, the home office, was helpful especially Thomas Ferk but he was notably suspicious of my electrical connections. All was done according to the manual and finally, he was satisfied. He sent out a new switch and motor and found a warranty tech ninety minutes away. Not high on the mechanic's importance list, he arrived on a Friday evening and stayed until 8:30 PM. He just elected to change the switch. Saturday morning, same problem. The next Saturday, he came out again and changed out the motor. That did the trick. It's worked flawlessly since. I wish he had changed out the motor that first Friday evening. Would have saved me a lot of aggravation and him a three hour trip.
Stuff happens, I guess. Bad motor. Shouldn't happen with a compressor selling for a thousand dollars but that's life!
