Arrived Broke
By KS
Minnesota
Review Posted 11/16/2022
This compressor arrived missing some parts and the team who got it running was unaware of the missing parts. After only one hour of use, it started making this horrible sound then it stopped working. We contacted the manufacturer to get someone to send the missing parts or to have someone come out and fix it. After nearly two weeks of waiting on a response/action to get this fixed, we are still at a standstill for production and cannot use the compressor we just invested in.

So Far So Good!

For me, air is air. I work on what my customers buy. I don't do a lot of compressors, just for my customers. The greatest thing about this compressor was the ease of installation. The original compressor was installed in 2000 and all connections were in the same place on the new compressor. Any tech will tell you how unusual that is. Manufacturers of industrial equipment move these things around willy-nilly with no regard to those who must retrofit a piece of equipment in the field, most of the time with very little room to play with. One inch here or there, up or down and you will have to redo the connections.

First Impression

I just received the air compressor and have not installed it yet. However, during the inspection and initial setup, I found 2 things that are a little disconcerting. First, the electrical cable clamps going from the starter to the motor were completely loose. Second, the tag on the machine says this compressor is shipped without oil. So I started to add the 1 liter as recommended and as I was adding the oil it overflowed. I only added about 6 oz. before it overflowed So either the tag is wrong or this unit was used before.

We are very sorry you experienced some issues with your Ingersoll Rand Type 30 5-HP 60-Gallon air compressor. All our compressors are brand new and fully packaged from the manufacturer. They packaging and crates are not opened until it arrives at your door. We do hear this occasionally that there is oil in the units and this would be from the manufacturer who does a test run on the units prior to packaging and shipping.
Please accept our apologies for your disappointment and inconvenience!

Lost & Found

I placed an order and paid with credit card. Shipment to arrive in 7-10 days. Two weeks later I called and was eventually told it was on a dock, someone would call me back. I had to call them again 2 days later and was told the shipping company had lost it, and I would have to place the order again. I asked for expedited shipping, but was told they don't do that. I finally received it about 4 or 5 weeks from the order date. Then 2 days later another one was delivered. We told them to take it back.
The compressor is working great.

I am sorry there were problems getting your air compressor delivered to you- I'm glad the replacement arrived safely! We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience.
For folks researching this unit, please note that our website says we expect this compressor to ship from Ingersoll Rand in 4 to 7 business days (Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays). That is not the same thing as expecting it to arrive in 7 days- we don't want you to be disappointed. Expedited delivery is not available on any orders that ship by semi-truck.
We were happy to help trace this shipment. Once the freight company said they couldn't locate the shipment we placed a no-charge replacement order on the customer's behalf and asked the shipper to return the original unit to Ingersoll Rand once they located it. The replacement unit was delivered on the 5th business day after it was ordered.

Air Compressors Direct delivered me a damaged air compressor and then did essentially nothing to help. I have to take them to small claims court over this.

Expert Response
I checked your file, and must respectfully disagree. Our website and your invoice specifically advise customers to check for damage when their compressor is delivered, and to refuse a damaged shipment. You accepted the damaged shipment and noted the damage on the shipping paperwork.
Ingersoll Rand shipped the compressor on their freight contract- as we explained that means any issues need to be resolved by you, Ingersoll Rand, and the freight carrier. We advised you how to file the claim, and explained that it needed to be done promptly- that's all we are legally allowed to do in this situation.
The Better Business Bureau has reviewed this situation, and they have determined that we made a good faith and reasonable effort in an attempt to resolve this issue; and have closed the case as administratively resolved.
