Ingersoll Rand has been a quality name since your grandfather's time- with good reason. Since 1905 they have been building tools that stand the test of time. What you get for the money is a durable, reliable air compressor with high-efficiency valves, air filters, and intercooler; along with OSHA compliant housing on the flywheel, belt, and motor sheave.
An oversized belt wheel and bearings allow for continuous duty operation with less time off for wear and tear repairs. Ingersoll Rand units might take a little longer to ship out than other brands, but we believe it's worth it since they pre-wire and thoroughly test each unit before it's crated up.

Brand that is starting to decline.

My review has no poor reflection on Air Compressor Direct. Purchased an Ingersoll Rand because of their notoriaty and dependability. Installed the unit and performed start up. Had an air leak at fitting on top of tank. Warranty service tech determined not enough sealant used at factory. He told me that the company pushes so many units out, they don't test units before shipping. Tech removed fitting, cleaned, and Teflon taped to repair leak. In full disclosure, my current compressor is my 2nd Ingersoll Rand I purchased but from another supplier. On my first, the motor needed to be replaced under warranty, and then the pump failed out of warranty. A screw came undone internally, causing pump to be damaged. Repair cost was close enough to the cost of a new compressor, which brought me to my current compressor. That is why I feel the brand is starting to decline. Buyer beware.

Morons & Junk Flywheel
By Tom N.
Colorado
Purchased 05/27/2024 |
Review Posted 07/30/2024
What a piece of junk. The entire compressor head is cast over an open campfire in India. When I received the unit and fired it up, it danced all over the floor because of a severely out-of-balanced flywheel. I contacted your "expert' Melissa and she immediately threw me under the bus and told me to contact the service center in Aurora CO which just happens to be across the entire state of Colorado. After many repeated tries to contact them, I told them what I thought was wrong. Their solution was to send the entire top heavy compressor across the entire state of Colorado so they could look at it. I told them I wasn't about to take a chance on freight company damage to the unit both ways. They refused to send a tech to look at the unit where I live. In fact, Michael the guy in Aurora wouldn't even answer my email. What a bunch of Morons! I ordered a new flywheel at my expense, $259.00, and fixed the unit myself, while it was still under warranty. Their warranty should be printed on toilet paper, then it would be good for something! I wouldn't recommend IR compressors or this outfit to my worst enemies!

Good Machine
By Dave T

Review Posted 03/07/2023

Only issue was overpressure valve leaked due to it never being properly tightened at factory. I pulled it out wiped off their dope, Teflon taped it and sent it home. Does not require a lot of torque to seal but it was not much more than finger tight. I added an Eaton 5ho mag start because the cheap pressure switches they use will burn out they’re not designed for that type of power. Also will add oil drain plug with sight glass at compressor oil change. Picture was after wiring but before piping but ran 3/4 copper (pro press) with access tees for full pressure before feeding regulator/filter/dryer and hose reel. Works great good value of it holds up.

Good For Most Part
By Andrew S

Review Posted 12/26/2022
Air compressor showed up Undamaged to the eye so that was good. When I got it home I combed thru it more. I found that the 1/2” ball valve was very hard to shut all the way and since I like to shut all air off at night didn’t want the hassle so I replaced that with one I had. Wasn’t impressed that it didn’t have an oil sight glass but I knew that before I bought it and added one also. Checked the air filter element and it appears that they didn’t get it placed correctly from factory and the backside was on bracket and deformed filter rubber gasket. So now I’m worried that if I don’t replace it will suck dust/dirt in and jeapordize the life span of my compressor. I need to call them and see if they can send me a replacement

Perfect Fit For Our Needs
By Steve M.

We were in need of an air compressor to replace our existing one that was becoming tired and not keeping up with our users needs. Shopped around looking for a replacement and found this compressor. Another big factor for me was, they had it in stock, which was huge as we needed it asap!. First impressions are, it is a well built machine, and so far, looks to be exceeding our needs. Good product, would buy again and recommend.
