Large and in-charge: that sums up this 2-stage unit from Ingersoll Rand. It's a Fully Packaged unit- that means it has everything you need for constant demand, dry air as well as low maintenance.
We're talking an aftercooler already mounted and piped, a low oil level shutdown switch, an electric drain valve, dual control for start/stop or constant speed, and a relief valve/discharge ball valve.
If an air compressor runs cooler, it will last longer. Deep finned cylinders along with oversized bearings and belt wheel combine for reliable, durable performance.
These units are made in the USA, and are fully pre-wired and thoroughly tested prior to shipment. Ingersoll Rand has been around for over 135 years- it's no surprise that they are really good at what they do.

So far, unit has been great. More than enough capability for my small shop. Quick filling. The cooling system results in no noticeable moisture in the system. My issues are: quality of assembly with metal shavings and oil left on the unit. The oil drain plug appeared to be used, and the paint job was lazy with them painting over some wires that should not have been. The item was also packaged poorly resulting in damage to both the air filter cover and the cooling fins on the top of the line running between the two pumps. All minor issues, but all indicative of poor assembly and quality control.

The only issue I had was the water drain valve fitting seep leaked, but a little tightening and pipe tape fixed it. Mine went in a cold shed, so I recommend putting a lighter 10w oil in the compressor or putting in a heated area, I also want to recommend checking to make sure you use the time delay fuses not the slow burn ones, other than that, it runs well and so far I'm happy with the purchase.

Theft By Deception

I paid over $ 4,009.00 for the compressor a month ago and it has never run. Compressor Direct refuses to warranty the compressor and says it’s Ingersoll Rand’s problem. IR will not even respond because it was bought from a third party. Stay as far away as you can from the Compressor Direct or you will regret it. I paid $ 4k for something that has never worked.

Apparently they do not inspect their product very well. Within an hour of running, oil was running down the side. Found a small pin hole in the casting leaking. Called IR and they sent a repair man out. Still waiting on new casting. Been 2 weeks. I'm still able to use but have to watch oil level. Never should of made it thru inspection, if there is any. But other than that, it does work very well in my shop.

Not The Best Quality And Prep For Shipping!
By daxonator
Missouri
Purchased 05/27/2023 |
Review Posted 06/21/2023
Thought Ingersoll Rand quality would be better. Cover on electrical box for the compressor rattles when running. So much, I guess slag, from welding of the tank keep clogging up the automatic drain valve making it useless right now. the automatic drain valve leaks air as well. Who ever prepped for shipping drove a staple through the power cord for the drain valve. Small copper lines were kinked. not happy at all. Cut it does compress air. That is the only thing I like.
