Better than OEM hose
By Nathan

Purchased 05/20/2013 |
Review Posted 06/10/2013
I am very pleased with my MTM Hydro Kobrajet power washer replacement hose. It is more heavy duty than the hose that came with my PW and I am certain will provide longer lasting service.

I am pleased to recommend the product.

Knocked 6 hours down to less than 2

Very satisfied! I did all my pressure washing in less than two hours. It's normally a six to seven hour job resulting in a sore back.

I strongly recommend this product.

Best by far of any product out there. It's light and easy to use, and built very well. It fit my unit with out any adaptor at all.

Very happy with my purchase. Can't beat the Honda engine, starts on the first pull every time.

This is the first Pressure Washer I've ever owned, I'm not disappointed- excellent quality machine.

I highly recommend it to other buyers.

Pump issues
By Joe T.
Honesdale, Pennsylvania
Review Posted 07/27/2010
The unit I have was purchased at Sams Club exactly two years ago. Karcher is of NO help when you call them. I have gotten one email reply and in it, Karcher passed the buck to a service dealer I suppose trying to protect the viability of their service side. The unit has been used to clean two porches and the front of my house nothing too strenuous.

I have had nothing but issues with the pump. Karcher suggested I removed the unloader/spill valve and replace it. I opened the front access and did find that the spill valve had broken in half, replaced it and still it did not work. Further investigation online with no help from Karcher revealed that techs recommended using Lithium grease to lubricate the valve. I tried exactly what they said and the Lithium grease only gummed up the inlet screen.

So I went with plumber's grease and the unit worked okay for about an hour and now the engine stalls out constantly. I don't think it is the engine, I think it is directly related to the design of the pump and wish now that I would have gone with a different manufacturer. All the online forums display post from UNHAPPY Karcher customers. I know now why they are so unhappy. I only wish I would have been able to find the forums PRIOR to purchasing this piece of garbage.

The pump does not last
By John A.
naperville, Illinois
Review Posted 07/14/2010
I purchased a new Karsher gas pressure washer from a big box store. I used it for one weekend, and winterized it at the end of the season.

I started it this spring and everything seemed fine. I went to use a few weeks later and it would not pump with any pressure. I followed the procedures Karcher had on the website for freeing a stuck unloader valve, and used lithum grease as suggested. I still could not get any pressure.

I was told by a repair center that I needed a new pump, and the parts cost more than the entire pressure washer.

I estimate I used this washer 8 hours total. That's clearly unacceptable.

PWD RESPONDS: Even if you didn't buy it from us, Karcher pressure washers have a 1 year warranty. Just give them a call at (800) 537-4129, they'll be happy to direct you to the Authorized Service Centers closest to you.

Pump failures
By William N.
Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
Review Posted 06/18/2010
I have owned 2 of these units over the past 6 years, one via gift, the second by purchase both from a big box store.

The big box store does not sell Karcher anymore, and both units have had pump failure documented by repair shop.

The replacement pump cost $250, resulting in second purchase of a unit on sale for less than a new replacement pump on Karcher's web site.

Both pumps failed before 30 hours of use cleaning residential porches and driveways. The Honda engines functioned well and were easy starting.

I would suggest looking for a more dependable product. I am trying TroyBilt.

PWD RESPONDS: Who makes the pump, what kind of pump, and the grade of pump are all important details when choosing a pressure washer. So is using the right tool for the job- consumer grade units won't meet the demands of contractor use.

You may be more comfortable with a triplex plunger pump, found on most Professional Grade units of any brand. They last almost twice as long as an axial cam pump (the kind on Karcher, Troy-bilt, and most other consumer grade units).

When they finally do show some wear, they can be rebuilt; where axial cam pumps cannot. They cost a bit more up front; but the rebuild is considerably less than replacing the entire axial cam pump, which saves you money in the long run.

Better pumps can be found on the Prosumer and Professional units listed on our web site.

Junk
By Art R.

Review Posted 01/17/2010
I bought this pressure washer at a Big Box store, it ran well for about 4 uses. Then the pump would function strong, then lose pressure, then pick up again.

This cycle would continue making the pressure washer useless. The engine ran well, but there is a problem with the pump. It is garbage as far as I am concerned.

I wish I had spent more money on a better unit.

PWD RESPONDS: New Karcher products have a 1 year factory warranty.

If you click on the Customer Service button at the bottom of our web site, then select Service Centers and click on the Karcher logo you will be able to find the closest Factory Service Center to your location.

Be sure to bring a copy of your receipt to the repair shop so they can do the warranty paperwork.

Also make sure your garden hose isn't longer than 30 feet- using a very long hose can drop the water volume enough to cause surging.

A lot of bang for your buck
By Pressure Washers Direct
Bolingbrook, Illinois

If you want a lot of bang for your buck, you won’t go wrong with this pressure washer from Karcher.

Their German engineered, durable pump is paired with a reliable, easy to start Honda engine that can handle any cleaning chore around the house.

Space isn’t a problem, since the handle folds down for easy storage and a handy detergent tank is built right into the cart.

Don't recommend
By S.B.

Review Posted 06/03/2009
My wife bought me one of these units from Sam's Club (which no longer sells this unit) as a birthday gift. The unit's setup and maintenance are easy and straightforward.

The real downside of the unit is the Honda engine that powers it and its setup. As configured, the unit will provide pressure for a few seconds, then back off, then provide pressure again, etc. I'm not sure if it's the Honda engine itself or the setup configuration with the pump, but I'm very disappointed after having this unit for three years now.

It's fine for light power washing if you don't really need consistent pressure, but if you're looking for a top-flight unit you're probably better off with another make and model.

PWD RESPONDS: Karcher provides a one year factory warranty on all new pressure washers that may have been able to correct this problem.

Honda engines have a longer warranty; contact your local Honda small engine service center.

Even though you are out of the warranty period you can call Karcher Tech Support at 800-537-4129 or go online to http://www.karcherresidential.com/en/support_turnpike.php for tips that may help your unit run better.

You may also want to check the length of your garden hose- if it's longer than 30 feet there may not be enough water getting to the pump, which can make it surge.
