Took two weeks of troubleshooting to realize the wireless receivers just need to be very close to each other in order to work. The provided instructions were borderline worthless, especially since I was able to get a signal between the receivers (discovered with the advanced troubleshooting) but still couldn't get online. Save the money for this and pay your installer to run a cat6 directly from your router to the generator.

Wireless radios work through a brick wall plus 2 sheet rock walls. Installation and setup was easy once I figured out the digital display on the generator was not showing the entire serial number of the generator due to character limitations. Only giving it 4 stars because from what I’ve read, wireless connectivity comes standard from other generator manufacturers.

First I'm a retired master electrician / contractor and have been around generators for over 50 years. I have surprised installation of 3 -1500kw, 480 volt diesel generators with 5000 amp paralleling gear. I installed a Kohler 24RCLA last fall at my remote lake property. A vendor was hired to do the start up/commissioning for warranty compliance. The genset was supplied by EGD. I did not install the Oncue initially because the reviews were mixed. I recently purchased the Oncue package and installed it today. Before the Oncue I installed a Netgear 1800 wifi extender next to the Oncue master module in the house. The Google nest system didn't have the ability to provide enough signal strength. The genset is about 120 feet from the house. The wifi extender improved wifi signal strength 10x at the genset. The only trick to all this is the password required after adding the generator serial number to the Oncue app. I had no clue what was required as the instructions are sketchy. After calling tech support at Kohler it turned out to be the password on the genset controller itself. The Tech walked me thru the acquisition process on the machine. After that it was easy to set up the phone app. Works great as I have tested with 100% functionality.

Took some figuring out, but everything you might need is included. One thing I missed and had to be told by Kohler customer service rep is to make sure the router in the house has tiny switch in H position and the one on the generator in C. Then it was a breeze.

I recently installed the WI-FI connection in my new Kohler 26RCA standby generator. It was relatively straight forward to install and worked perfectly right out of the box. My modem is about 20 feet from the generator but behind 2 walls and a stack of firewood and it has no problems communicating with the generator. It works as advertised and will mean that when I am out of town, I get push notifications to my phone which is very informative and comforting.

The setup and installation was pretty straight forward for someone with computer skills. Better than running a hardline connection to the generator. Would like to see additional functionality developed in the On-Cue App. Time changes should be able to accomplish through the app.

I have a strong WiFi signal near the generator, yet after a couple weeks of very difficult troubleshooting, I had to purchase a WiFi extender, hard wire the OnCue wireless host unit to the extender and place it on the window sill within 6 feet of the generator to get a signal that worked.
I recommend hard wiring the generator directly to the router without purchasing this wireless extender.
