So Far, So Good

We have had a lot of rain storms on our house and the french drain is working by channeling the ground water into the well where the sump pump is. The sump pump is working solidly since the day I put it in in June 2023.

This is my second pump in under two years. Same one I replaced originally. I will say to get it replaced was pretty easy. Unfortunately, because of the way the wiring was ran, I ended up replacing the entire wiring underground. I still haven't installed the pump because I need to replace the valve, as recommended by everyone I spoke with. Of course finding the replacement valve was a chore. When it arrives I will get the system up and running.
As for the pump, if you read the life of most pumps is only 5 to 7 years. That said, I'd love to get a pump that could last a lot longer. Time will tell. Would I recommend this pump? It works and the people are extremely nice. If it goes out again I'll have to see how things are going.

Liberty 281, Best Sump Pump I've had.
By Steve F.

Purchased 03/15/2017 |
Review Posted 03/17/2017
I built my house in 1994, there's a high water table and it's hard on sump pumps. From 1994-2008, I went though four big box store 1/2 HP pumps, ave. cost $125-150. On 2-27-08 I installed a Liberty 281 pump, and it's lasted to the present 3-17-17. It's still pumping strong, but in the last week the float switch occasionally didn't turn on, and might be starting to go bad. I was very happy with this pump, so far it has lasted 9 years, that's 3x as long as any pump I've had previously. I was so happy with this pump I just bought another one to have when my present pump goes, nothing last forever.

I would like to know how many watts a 1/3 or 1/2 hp sump pump has, because i was think of buying a portable generator in case the power goes off.
