Very Quiet Pump With Noisy Check Valve
By Richard K.
Indiana
Purchased 05/04/2017 |
Review Posted 05/26/2017
I just installed this the other day and even thou we have had a lot of rain I have not had to use this other then to test it. (I hope this is always the case). The install was pretty simple , i did read the other reviews so when I did install this I placed the pump at a slight angle to avoid sucking in air. The inline check valve currently is an issue thou, when the main pump stops the check valve for the backup allows the water to drain out of the vertical pipe making a lot of noise.

I plan to pull the pumps and look at the check valve and possible rotate the hinge on the check valve, hopefully this will correct the issue other wise I will have to find a different one. If i have a solution other then these I will update this posting at a later date. Hope this helps.

Works Great After 2 Years

Although I have never had to rely on the backup pump it has worked flawlessly every time I've tested it. Every few months I will unplug the primary sump pump and make sure everything is working fine with the 441. I have had this pump for two years and have not had a single problem. Also, the battery charger that comes with the unit is great. I am using an Autocraft group 27 marine battery rated at 600 CCA. After two years of use I brought it to the auto parts store and had it tested, it tested at 618 CCA. The charger now is better because it will work with bigger batteries (group 27 & 31, was group 24 & 27) and also charges AGM batteries.

Check Valve Problem
By Richard P.
Meadville, Pennsylvania
Review Posted 01/30/2017
I replaced my current pump with this system, hook up was easy. But the check valve on the back up pump would allow the water to drain the water back into the pit after cycling. Liberty sent a new one but this one failed also. The check valve right out of the box was not closed and with it mounted on a tee horizontally would not close. A better quality valve would cure the problem. I purchased an in line check valve and mounted it above both pumps.

Nice, but pricey.

Nice setup. Pumps Well. Alarm functions as it should. Easy to install. Comments:

1. The backflow provided in the kit is junk, which then does not allow you to install per Method A in the instructions. And then renders the provided T useless. Plan to buy PVC pipe and fittings and plumb yourself.

2. EXPENSIVE! The pump and battery box are the SAME unit as provided in almost every other battery backup that is $100-$150 less. I bought this setup due to the fact that the charging system had much better reviews than its competitors.

You end up paying a premium for the charging system.

3. Float work well.

Overall, nice unit, but it could be $75 cheaper and they would still be making a killing on it.

Seems Well Made & Out Pumps My 1/2 Hp Main Pump
By Donald V.
New Baltimore, Michigan
Purchased 11/04/2015 |
Review Posted 11/26/2015
I installed this back up pump without using T type connection as shown because this seemed to be a little weak with the 1 1/4 pvc pipe holding a fairly heavy pump, so I installed the back up pump to set level on the floor of pit beside primary pump and tee'd primary and back up pump discharge pipes above sump pit cover, this method is covered in instructions also, but if you have 18" sump pit this type of installation you won't have the room for this type of installation and will have to tee off the back up pump from the main discharge pipe shared with the primary pump.

I am using a marine deep cell no- maintenance battery because it's readily available, I don't have to buy hazardous acid, and is cheaper. Although instructions recommend a fillable cap type battery with acid added as needed because this type of battery charges to 100% capacity My no maintenance battery is holding charge very well with enough reserve so far.
Tested after install and works extremely well.

All in all went together fairly well and I am not a plumber.

Do we get the primary pump too?
Bill Doughertu

Just FYI - I've seen a lot of questions about this so I thought I would pass on this information. The 5-stage charger in Liberty Pumps 441 system is manufactured by Diversified Power International. I checked with them and maintenance free flooded (wet) lead acid batteries will work with the charger. So, the marine batteries (Group size 24 or 27) that you can buy at Walmart, Sears, auto parts stores, etc will work fine

I have a new EverStart 27DC Battery (Walmart) that I want to use with the Liberty Pumps 411 backup pump. It is considered a Maintenance free deep cycle battery. Will this battery work properly with the 411 charging system?

Just bought an older home and was looking to purchase a new sewer pump, leaning towards the Liberty PRG101A. Would it be a good idea to also put a battery back up unit in with it?

Looking down the road, if and when the pump fails / wears out, would I be able to replace it or do I need to replace the entire unit? Hence, would I be able to use the power inverter or controller with other pumps? Thanks.

Hi, Jim - We lost our finished basement during the Aug. 11 hurricane - power failed for 28 hours and we collected 16 inches of water in the basement destroying everything. Need a good backup sump pump and would like a battery-operated pump, but am considering a water-powered pump. Can you tell me which brand/model would be your choice. We are in a wet area, and our current Liberty 1/3 hp pump works 24/7. Can't refinish the basement until we get a backup pump as we could easily flood out again when the power fails again. Very troublesome! Thank you! Lois
