After 2 flooded basements within a year, one due to sump pump failure, the other due to a power outage, we decided we MUST get a battery backup sump pump system. There are many manufacturers & systems to choose from but we wanted the added features that included high quality components and “smart home internet capability”. Having a back up sump pump solves half the problem, being able to receive text messages and emails warning you that the system has been activated allows you to address any problems before serious flooding damage occurs.
The Liberty Backup Sump Pump System with the Night Eye Alarm & System monitoring features were exactly what we were looking for! The model we choose included all the parts needed for an easy installation, and with a call to Liberty one question we had was very quickly answered by one of their Service Technicians. Overall, we are very happy with our Liberty Pump System. It has provided us with peace of mind knowing that our home is safe and secure from another VERY costly flood repair! We are extremely thankful we found Sump Pump Direct which offered us a large variety of products for us to choose from!

Seems very well built. Gives you more peace of mind not having to worry about power outages or the primary pump failing. Very easy to install. Would only reccomend for larger sump pits as it does take some space.

I was very impressed by the quality and build of the Liberty StromCell Backup. The setup of the pump and the app on the iPhone was easy and works. I like how I can check on the status of the backup pump anytime I want to.
I recommend everyone with a basement and sump pump should install a high quality battery backup pump system even if you have a whole home generator backup system like we do as it may not even be a power loss to your whole house that causes the water backup. We learned this the hard way when the outlet the sump pump was plugged into failed. You can have a water backup from power loss, failed electrical outlet, failed sump pump, failed sump pump switch, etc.
After experiencing how costly the damage that only an inch of water in our finished basement can cause the cost of purchasing and installing a high quality backup pump system is small in comparison. It has cost us many hours this summer on both weekends and workdays and $15K - $20K in mitigation, reconstruction, and contents replacement costs. We had to absorb the insurance deductible for water backups coverage of $2,750.00.
We placed the backup pump next to the primary pump in the sump pit. Installed a board to place the charger control and system control panels on. See attached pictures. My Dad and I installed the following items completly replacing the prior cover, plumbing, and equipment.

Primary Pump: Liberty Pumps 250 - 1/3 HP Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump (Non-Automatic)
Electronic Level Switch: LevelGuard Z24803PTZ - Electronic Sewage & Effluent Pump Switch
