Workhorse Pump
By Bill C

Purchased 10/13/2023 |

I use this pump to move water between a series of fish ponds with about 6 feet of lift between each one so I get just about max GPH from it. It works perfectly for this application. If you plan to use a lay flat discharge hose try connecting a section of suction hose to the pump first for a smooth transition and avoid kinks. This pump is hefty, using the quick connect hoses makes it much easier to work with. In which case, you’ll also need a 2” male Part F quick connect to screw into the pump outlet. This is a rock solid pump that I expect to use for many years.

Works Great

I am manager of a duck club and we bought this pump with the intent of pumping water out of 1/4 to 1/2 acre marshes back into our holding ponds each summer before we plant millet and other duck attracting plants that will mature in early fall. Most of our marshes are wired for electricity but some are not and we use the Honda 2000i generator instead. Pump works great moving water uphill or downhill. Of course, speed is not what this pump is designed for. It takes upwards of 5 to 8 days of constant running to pump each marsh dry.
With the electricity option, no big deal, the pump runs 24/7 during these drain times. Using the generator takes twice as long as we can only run 10-15 hours per day with an external fuel tank. Bottom line, the pump takes this abuse without any problems. I do recommend getting the appropriate 2 inch PVC fittings to create a 90 degree elbow that goes horizontal in order to attach the 2 inch hose. We pump up to 400 feet horizontal and up to 10 feet of head elevation without issue.

This Is A 4 Star Product

So far so good. The only thing that bothers me about this product is the fact that you need the check the oil on it. For me it is a messy event, since the pump is in a pond, and getting it in and out is a pain. Other than that it is a fine product. BTW, I do recommend this pump. Sometimes I run it 24/7.

Quality Pump, Poor Out Of The Box.

Pump seems high quality, but does not work with packaged hoses. Pump is designed to eject straight up, but the flat hoses kink where they need to transition to running horizontal. Also 100’ hose is too long for this unit. Our guys spend too much time trying to make sure the hoses are perfectly straight or the force is not enough to straighten. Users will need to adapt some kind of hard pipe elbow before using hoses.

Great When It Starts
By Ed H.

I've never had a pump sound so happy to sit and not pump anything. Turn the power on, impeller starts spinning, but there is a lag between when the impeller starts and the pump actually pumps anything. It is like there is a clutch with a delay that is somehow upset by some back pressure on the line. It can be a great pump when it runs, but I never know if it is going to decide to run or not. So I can't trust it to defend the bottom of my driveway from when the rain gets heavy. I'm back to a pump that costs 1/4 as much, but at least tries to pump.

Expert Response
Based on what you described, it could be back pressure causing the pump to airlock. I would suggest reviewing the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual. We rarely see any type of issues with these submersible Multiquip pump. Multiquip provides a 1-Year Warranty on this pump and they can be reached directly @ 800-478-1244

Made Life Easier - Great Product

This pump was used to empty the community pool to ready it for the upcoming season. In the past I had rented a pump that we had to prime and we spent more time getting it running than we did using it. However this pump was great. I just dropped it in and off it went. It really made this process so much easier even though it is just once a year it was still economical if it will last at least three years. The only suggestion that I would have is that in this use the lay flat discharge hose kinks on a right angle turn out of the pool and the bend restricts the flow. So I bought an intake hose and it was much better.

Best Pump For Golf Course Bunkers
By Kevin L.
Iron Horse Golf Course, Texas
Purchased 04/08/2019 |
Review Posted 04/30/2019
Use this pump to remove water from bunkers on the golf course. No need to prime the pump place it in the water and off it goes. With a quite generator the golfer is not bothered with a loud running pump. The Multiquip ST2040 Has saved time, heavy lifting of a standard pump with a suction hose and ease of use is outstanding.
