The unit arrived in good condition, only issue was one of the fittings was leaking and had to tighten, so far it's been a few weeks since installation, and no other issues.

Heads Up!!!

I have wanted a Quincy for 20 years and finally got one. It’s a great compressor don’t get me wrong, but I do have a complaint and this review is strictly to help my fellow air compressor purchasers from making the same mistake that I did, with mine. I’m a very handy fellow who knows how things work and don’t always need or read instructions. Long and short of it my compressor is now 2 years old and has been great until the pop-off valve in the head starting going crazy. I call Quincy and service guy says the head gaskets are shot and needs new ones. He asked if I re-torqued the head twice a year. I said no.... he said well you have to. Now I’m a bit torn on this subject and again I take full responsibility for my problem..........BUT It was my understanding that Quincy was the baddest air pump on the planet and they ran forever, which is why I purchased one...Right??? All my buddies with Ingersol Rands have never torqued their heads and not had any issues. So just be aware and follow the instructions so your not waiting 2 weeks and counting on head gaskets for your Quincy, like me. I would like to think they could solve this issue at the manufacturer and it never develops. We don’t re-torque aluminum heads on our daily drivers twice a year...but what do I know. God bless!!!

Leaks Right Out Of The Box.

Hooked up the electrical supply today, ran the motor with no load for one hour per the manual, then closed the dump valve and pressurized it. At 175 PSI the motor kicks off as advertised, but there's a loud hissing sound. The large 2" plug that the pressure sensor taps into has a serious leak. Do they not do any QA at the factory?

SO GLAD I bought a premium-priced product and not some cheap foreign junk! I live in VT, but the nearest service centers are in CT and NY. Nice.

Great Compressor

The Quincy Max 7.5 HP is a great compressor. I have researched for a couple of years and waited until I had a legitimate shop to purchase this unit. The Max comes with the cooler unit, which makes checking belt tension an issue, but really works great and the outlet valve on the tank stays cool to the touch. There are lots of ways to deal with the hot air, but I am impressed with the integrated system. I have not used the automatic drain valve yet, because I don't have a handy 120v outlet. I followed the break-in instructions and actually got more turn on the head bolts than I expected to get, so I would not skip the break-in procedures.

Puts out lots of air and seems to be able to keep up with anything I will do.

Overall, I was very satisfied.

Does Ok When Finally Got To Work

Received this air compressor in a very timely manner. Installed it and started it. It ran one cycle and tripped the reset on the magnetic starter. Had an electrician review the wiring and all looked good. Started it and did the same thing. I called Quincy and of course, they were going to call me right back. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I run a truck garage and we can't be without air in the shop so I searched the internet and after watching lots of videos(as in hours worth) I stumbled upon what the problem was. It is an adjustable reset and it was set to pop if the motor drew over 24 amps. It is a 7.5 hp motor. Of course, it will draw over that. There is an adjustment on the reset and I set it at 40 amps and that seems to have fixed the problem. I bought Quincy because it was made in the U S. It would be nice if they would have at least called me back and pretended to care. Now I have it working and it seems to be fine. Not sure if the next one will say Quincy on the side of it or not. Hopefully, it will be a while before I have to decide about that though.

Powerful, Keeps Up With Sandblaster, Quick Customer Service/Tech

After figuring out how to get it off the pallet and bolting in a level place, the unit kept tripping off on its own overload. After contacting customer support, I received a quick reply call. The motor overload was set too low from Quincy. Once support informed me how to dial it in correctly, the unit ran perfectly and had no problem keeping up with my 19 CFM @ 90 psi demand for over an hour without running continuously.

Another issue was the wire coming from the low oil sensor was laying out disconnected. Not sure how that can be or how it was tested but a tech answered the phone and instructed me on where the wire goes so all is well.

Also, I can stand right next to the unit running and can barely notice it running by any vibration in the floor. Very well balanced.

So thankful for good quality service.

Very Well Built, Strong & Surprisingly Quiet Machine

This compressor has more than enough power and CFM to keep our machine shop running full speed. This 220 has a much lower amperage draw than the compressor we pulled out of here.

Great machine.
