With the exception of cost, this product is easy to install and addresses all the necessary protection to water damage you could hope for. They should package more of the parts necessary to accomplish the project.

Never used Kerdi backer board for tiling until now. I am home owner DIY and have done tiling work a few times, from tub-shower surrounds, floors and kitchen counters. I was doing a bathroom remodel, tub surround up to ceiling with large format tile. I didn't like the previous experience of using cement board because of the weight (have back problems) dust (silica dust is dangerous!) and prep work (must water proof cement board). I came across Schluter Kerdi board on line searching and was impressed by its ease of handling and already waterproofed with impervious membrane. It is expensive but to me worth the expense. It was easy to handle, cut and fit in place. So light weight and no dust. Can easily hold 48" x 96" sheet by one hand. Just cuts with a sharp blade. It was really easy to install. Lots of time saved which to me justified the greater expense over cement board, The project came out great. Absolutely recommend this product for DIY or pros. Very good quality product.

I did a bathroom remodel for my mom....she was having trouble climbing over the tub to take a shower. I gutted the bathroom and rebuilt with Kerdi-Board, sloped tub to the shower conversion tray, Schluter drain. I ended up making the new curb out of Kerdi-Board because the Schluter curb only comes in 48 inches and I needed 60. By using Kerdi-Board, I eliminated the need for cement board and lining it with Kerdi-Fabric (a big time saver), and you can cut the Kerdi-Board with a razor knife - came out great.

Ordered Kerdi-board, shower pan, drain, screws, kerdi board washers, kerdi flex. Was shipped within a day and arrived within 2 days...wow, was not expecting that. One of the kerdi flex tubes was missing a nozzle, called customer service and was sent a replacement tube no questions ask...will definitely use them again.
