This thing will handle anything you throw at it. If you plan to use a surface cleaner, don’t mess around with the 3800 psi or below units. I thought 3800 would be good enough, and it was painfully slow and inefficient. I caved and bought this unit and never looked back. This is one of those times when I would have saved money by just going with this in the first place.

I purchased the Simpson ALH4240 (Model: 60688) from Pressure Washers Direct on January 8, 2025, expecting a high-quality machine. Unfortunately, it failed right out of the box and has been a nightmare ever since.
Immediate Issues:
The quick-connect fitting was defective, requiring me to force it into place with tools just to connect the hose.
The pump failed to generate proper pressure, and the engine did not idle up when pulling the trigger, making it unusable.
Warranty & Repair Delays:
Simpson wouldn’t send a replacement, instead referring me to a local repair shop (Altaquip/Ready Repair, Austin, TX).
The technician confirmed the pump was defective, but instead of replacing it, Simpson required it to be shipped back to CAT (the pump manufacturer) for evaluation and repair.
One month later, my pressure washer is still in the shop with no timeline for repair.
Final Verdict – Avoid This Model

Very solid unit with the right combination of motor and pump we were looking for. Frame/handle is a comfortable height to move around. wand is good quality, same as the Dewalt pistol grip wand we have. I made a lunch bet that it would start on the first pull after unboxing and adding oil, and like every Honda motor I've owned it did not disappoint!

After owning this pump for a couple of months and using it on four different jobs, I'm very pleased with the Simpson ALH4240. I've owned three other smaller Simpson pumps (3200 - 3400 psi) over the years and got my money's worth out of them but I needed a little more pressure for some tough jobs. The added pressure has made cleaning a driveway, cleaning vinyl siding, stucco, and tabby much easier, faster, and much cleaner. I chose the model with a CAT pump also so that I can easily find repair parts when needed. The cost of the Simpson was also a factor when I was shopping for a new machine. This pump was half the cost of my next option and since I've always had good luck with Simpson, I chose Simpson. The only cons I can see are the weight (just a little too heavy to load in a pickup truck alone) and the added pressure does "kick" harder so it does take a little more effort to control the wand over lower psi machines. All in All, I'm very happy with my purchase and would do it again.

Very impressed with this pressure washer! This is the third unit I’ve had to buy, and the first unit that actually told me to not let the engine run for more than two minutes without pulling the trigger!
This is a step up from my previous unit. The difference is impeccable. I could not believe it! Very noticeable difference and performance. The engine starts up very simply with one pole following the directions provided! Restarting is also very simple!

First, I was very impressed that the box arrived undamaged. I was equally impressed when I opened the box and it wasn't enclosed in another box and still didn't get damaged.
This is way more powerful (more on the commercial side) than I probably needed. With the pressures it puts out, you will have to be careful not to damage what you are cleaning. Once you get the process down for starting, it is really easy. If you have to pull more than a few times, the pump builds pressure and it's hard to pull start. You have to release the pressure from the gun, then pull again.
Actually, only con I have is it is a gas guzzler! I get 1 to 1.5 hours in and have to refuel.
Overall, this is an amazing machine!
