From old Snapper to a new model.....
By Ronald S.

Mowers Direct is a good company to do business with. No issues there. Now my story:
I replaced a terrific, but really old and worn out, 25" Snapper sit down, rear engine mower with the new Snapper Model #: 7800649. I also purchased the Snapper Ninja kit to mulch the grass back onto the lawn. I sharpen the blade to a razor edge. Height settings on the cutter adjustment are from a very low 1 to a high of 5. I cut at a #4 setting. For some reason I cannot figure out, using the Ninja blade, it leaves a strip of blown down grass, maybe 3" wide, uncut on the left edge, and it looks very bad. I give it plenty of overlap to be sure it isn't the tire area pressing down on the grass. I tried going at the slowest speed figuring the blade needs more cutting time. Better but still leaves uncut grass. On a flat concrete patio I checked the level on the bottom edge of the blade housing and it is perfectly level. I used the old Snapper for years before the engine died and was pleased enough to replace it with the new model. Not very happy now. Anybody else have this problem?

Reading the manuals, minor parts for the the Snapper are easy "for a handyman" to put together, IE, front steering linkage, gas tank, seat, install mulching blade package (extra purchase), fill grease fittings, installing the tiny gel type battery "after charging it", check and add oil (I had too), and filling the gas tank. It's running great and cuts the lawn beautifully. I must say the delivery service was very courteous, and helpful. The people at Mowers Direct are very professional and the call service is responsive and helpful. No problems. I used the send in check method and saved 2% without a problem.

Snapper Riding Mower

Review Posted 05/19/2011
The mower arrived and as I began to assemble it I realized I was missing the bag of parts. There was a box with the seat, gas tank and water bottle but no other parts. I called Snapper and they were anything less than helpful.
They originally tried to say it wasn't their fault and asked if I had called Mowers Direct. I said that the mower is crated and sent direct and that Snapper should be responsible for ensuring all the necessary parts are in the box crate.
Finally they said they would send me the parts. They originally said the parts would come to me overnight but that never happened. I called back and again asked where the parts were. They said they don't have overnight shipping and the parts would come 4 days later after my first contact. Some service. Then the parts actually came in 2 different shipments.
While finally assembling it there were several decals which after talking with Snapper again were not updated to reflect the new mower and shouldn't be used. Also it would have helped if the directions would have included a list of parts so you would have known what was to be used where. It took me a lot of extra time to know which bolts, nuts, etc were to be used where during the assembly process. So overall I am not pleased with the Snapper experience. You can forward these comments onto Snapper if you so desire.

Grinding noise and vibration in transmission
By William

Review Posted 03/17/2011
I bought a snapper rear engine riding mower. 28 inch hi-vac electric start. This mower has grinding noise and vibration in transmission. I carried back to dealer and they kept it a week and said nothing was wrong with it. I tried another snapper dealer and he said the later models have this problem account of cheap material being used. I had a 1979 model snapper rear engine 28 inch electric start that I sold after buying this new one. I never had any trouble with it. I wish I had my old Snapper back. The reason I bought the new one was to get a larger engine and Snapper changed the way the deck
raises and lowers which is about the only difference in the new one and the old one. This new mower was
purchased in September 2010.
