Very Disappointed!

Review Posted 05/23/2017
For 20 years, I used a Snapper 1230 riding mower. I bought the RE130 sight unseen. What a mistake!! When we finally got it operational, with the help of our local dealer, we found it was so hard to steer that we would never have considered it had we tried it out first.
If Mowers Direct would direct me to Snapper for a solution to the steering problem or another Snapper mower, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your consideration and a timely reply.

This.......thing....., compared to the older models is a POS!!! I still have a same size older model I put in mothballs about 10 years ago because it was too large for my smaller yard.
The quality and ease of operation and maintenance on the older mower are ten times better. I was going to refurbish the old one so my wife could use one of them to help with the much larger yard we now have.
The new one has an erratic stalling problem that I'm still trying to isolate specific conditions before I attempt to have it repaired. I wouldn't be surprised if the old one will still be running when this freshly painted pile of junk is in the bone yard.
Also, I almost didn't order this mower because they only come with a B & S engine, which I'm not fond of, and low and behold, when it arrived, I discovered that B&S now owns the mower company too. That pretty much explains this whole mess. Shame on me for not properly doing my homework.

Huge disappointment.

Never owned a riding lawnmower, remembering the snapper brand from back in the day, I am 64. I purchased the RE 130 for our new home about a 1/3 acre. I have used it about 12 times, in the shop for second time for drive discs, not pulling, after going in reverse, clutch is total free play.
I have to get off of the mower, reach under the back of the mower to pull on a bar. After the third time just mowing the front, I packed it up and brought it back. Dealer will fix the problems, and then it is on the street. My Honda Walk behind runs circles around the Snapper. Can't even trade it in, its reputation proceeds it. This is NOT your daddy's Snapper.

Snapper RE130 is a Failure
By Mark D.
Lake City, Florida
Review Posted 05/19/2016
I purchased a Snapper RE130 from the local Snapper authorized dealer about two years ago. It was something that I will always regret. One problem after another. The RE130 can't even mow normal height grass without bogging down because of the unusually large and heavy 33" blade.
The RE130 would intermittently stop and I would have to restart it. Finally, the RE130 quit working period. Worst mower that I've ever owned. If you want a rear engine rider then purchase the Troy-Bilt TB30R. I have one and it performs brilliantly. Cuts through tall grass with no problem. That's because the 30" blade is about half the weight of a Snapper 33".

Bad Choice

Bad choice-steering is like driving 1937 Mack truck and the shifting is very difficult. I'm 79 years old and this is the worst riding mower that I ever owned.

I was surprised how well it was crated. Assembled easily. This mower was bought for mowing grass around head stones at a cemetery. Only used once so far but it preformed well. My landscaper liked the all steel construction, no plastic.

33" Rider with Questions
By Jerry S.
Greenville, Texas
Review Posted 05/02/2015
I purchased this unit last year during a severe drought so we have only used it about 6 times. I have owned (and sold Snappers) since the late 70's before retiring. My 28" Hi Vac was awesome!
This unit is beyond disappointing!
1. The parking brake was difficult to engage & this week, the plastic knob broke off while setting it.
2. To attach the side chute for the bagger assy. onto the mower deck is virtually impossible with the stiff plastic and trying to get it to line up with the holes is a trick!
3. The most critical thing is that it is the hardest rider to turn I have ever seen! My wife could easily turn with the handlebars on the 28" but she can't turn this one at all! Mowing straight & making gradual turns is just fine, however, in making sharp turns it becomes a monster!
With what I know now. I would upgrade to a zero turn rider in a heartbeat!

Disappointing mower
By Jeremy
Tennessee
Review Posted 04/05/2015
I recommend avoiding this Snapper mower. I have had it under two years and use it to mow a flat 1/4-acre lawn. It has had problems ranging from uncontrollable speed, broken seat safety switch, broken parking brake knob, and defective blade interlock device.
The Snapper repair center manager, who now knows me by name, said to avoid Snapper products with the "new" design because they are plagued by problems.
