If I was to water a garden with this pump, would the pressure of the hose turning on and off be bad for the pump?

Jim: I live in CA and, as you probably know, we have a severe drought. In an effort to save water, I place a bucket under the shower when I turn it on to catch the cold water. Once it turns warm, I remove the bucket and take my shower, At a later tilme, i fill empty milk containers with the water in the bucket and use it to water our plants. The bathroom is on the second floor and, needless to say, it is a hassle collecting the water and carrying it downstairs. What I want to do is have a pump I can turn on that will move the water from my bucket, out the bathroom window, to a collection barrel at ground level. I assume a submersible, utility bpump is my best choice? Does the pump need to fit in the bucket or could I have it outside the shower stall? Any advise you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
