I ordered this unit and it IS easily set up. It starts on the first pull.

However, while cutting down a hill of about 25 degrees, it dumped oil in the carbureator and shut down with a giant plume of blue smoke. I let it sit and after a while it restarted okay.

But, after cutting only about 100 ft of 18" tall grass, I was surprised to see that one of the wheels cracked from the outside all the way to the hub.

Back to Lowe's it went for a speedy refund. Goodbye Swisher. Hello Ariens or DR.

We are sorry to hear you had issues with your trimmer. Our manual states that you should not use this machine on a steep incline. We don't recommend anything over 15°.

When my trimmer arrived after purchase, apart arrived damaged. Purchased, replaced and worked fine until the leakage broke. to it in to mechanic and he fixed. Used it the first time this season and the trimmer head assembly came off. When its operation and works like a gem.

Starts first pull and maneuvers extremely well, easy to replace line. I also wish that I can get replacement parts. Used the part numbers that are manual and looked for them on line, but no listing for 60% of the parts.

Anyone know where to go and get replacement parts? I would like for it to just stay together and not break.

My daughter gave me one for fathers day, last year only used it about 3 times. This year, I tried to use it, but it wont stay running.
It only runs 2 seconds. Bought at Tractor Supply

Keeping line on during cutting of heavy weeds

I was given this machine after my brother passed. I have 65 acres close to Windsor Mo. with a lot of heavy weeds and have cleared about 5 acres with a Craftsman walk behind. When I inherited this machine, I thought that being a more powerful machine it would help me get the job done. Since the first time I tried it I have been very disappointed. I have tried all kinds of line and cannot keep it on the spool.

Follow up to Belt Problems

After reporting my belt problem with the Swisher string trimmer on Friday, I was contacted by Becky in the customer service department at Swisher on Monday. After talking about what the problem appeared to be, she checked internally and discovered that the machine was sent out with a faulty idler pulley that was causing the problems. She contacted me within the hour and told me they would be sending out new replacement parts under warranty.

Much to my surprise, the replacement parts arrived Tuesday morning via Overnight Air. Wow, you can't ask for better customer service than that!

Belt Problems

I have attempted to use the trimmer twice now and in both cases the drive belt has been shredded.

Regardless of the tension, I can't keep the belt from dropping under the backside idler pulley which eats up the back side of the drive belt within a very short period of time. This is my third string trimmer machine and I have never had belt problems before this make. Poor idler design.. And the machine is heavy to operate also.

I would return this unit for a refund if that was possible!
