This Tanaka had better work!!

Just puchased one 12" Tanaka today. At first glance it is a bit plasticky, no see-though window to check fuel level and now wont start after 5 mins use!! Also drinks chain oil until I did some tweaking.

Still haven't been able to start it

When you're thinking 'climbing saw for $300, must be too good to be true, it is. This isn't my first saw, my others (orange) are plastic too. This one feels toyish. Can't quite tell you how it runs because after four different heated attempts to try and run it it still won't start. Wishing I had spent the extra $200 so it matched my others.

I finally got to use my new saw when the weather broke. It was a little hard to crank at the start but once I got it cranked the first time, it was not a problem. This saw may be small, but it cuts wood like a much larger saw. It zipped right through large limbs, and it was easy to one hand cut an over head limb I could not have reached with a heavier saw. I like it verry much.

Great little saw for what it is meant to do. I am extremely happy except when I try to cut to big of wood. Four or five inches is about maximum for good performance. Love the light weight and one hand operation for cutting tree tops and throwing pieces in pile. Starts great and runs smooth.

Light weight chain saw meets my expectations

I wanted a light weight chainsaw to use while maintaining the trails in our local land trust, I often hike for miles so a light weight saw was my objective. I found this inexpensive saw met my needs.

It starts easily. I use a premixed fuel (SEF 40:1, 94 octane, no ethanol). My only complaint is that the clutch brake engages too easily, a seemingly light bump will cause the saw brake to engage. The saw is made out of plastic materials and so probably it should not be used in anything other than light duty use.

I’ve tackled blow downs up to twelve inches and it cuts through them with ease. For the price I paid, it’s worth it.

CSD RESPONDS: You might want to give the folks at Tanaka a call, toll free, at (888) 482-6252 to see if there's a way to adjust the clutch brake.

Greart Little Saw

This is a great little saw for the money. It is light weight but cuts like a big saw.
I love the controls being on top like they are and the saw has plenty of power for cutting small trees and in heavy brush.

It is a little difficult to get parts, I lost the tenisioner in the woods and it was a little difficult to get a replacement but it did come.

It Rocks !

It's made in Japan, high quality, no zinc fasteners.
Very well put together, and very light.
For a small saw, it can't be beat. High rpm and decent torque.
Out performs my 18" Husky, very easy for my 100lb wife to start and use.
Make a bigger one and I will buy it !

This saw has a lot of power for its size, very easy to hold and weighs very little.
It is Great for brush cleanup and small tree felling.
I only wish they would have put a primer bulb on this saw as the first start-up from cold takes a bit of patience other than that I am satisfied.
