Basic and Fine

This mower is dependable and does the job. The mulching kit is expensive for what you get. The mulching does not do well with this machine if the grass is damp or wet in the slightest. There is not much room for adjustment of the height.
The dealer said air pressure is the only adjustment besides the setting on the side. Even on the highest setting, it cuts relatively short. I would like to see a higher setting.

Great mower for the money
By Thomas

Review Posted 10/11/2012
I have owned my Toro riding mower for just over a year now and have not had any problems with it. I also purchased a snow blade and chains for the winter. I snow plowed my driveway last winter and it did great!
The mower starts good in very cold temperatures as well. The mower does a great job cutting the grass and has one of the best engines that you can get in a riding mower. (A Kohler engine with iron sleeves- a long lasting engine.)
The mower rides like a car. It has a cup holder, cruse control, nice seat, parking break, easy steering and a foot pedal to make you go the speed of your choice. It is a great mower for the price.
The only thing that I don't like about my mower is that once the parking break is set it sometimes comes loose, and away the mower goes with me running after it.

Lots of power

I just bought this a couple of weeks ago to replace 46" Toro Wheelhorse I had for 10-12 years.
This is a good mower with lots of power (20 hp vs. 17 hp on my older model). i like it but have two minor concerns: 1) the mulching kit i bought with the mower had trouble with my Bermuda grass--it clogs easily and leaves clumps of cut grass. Also, it requires you to leave the grass throwing chute on the mower as it is attached to this apparatus.
Consequently, the throwing chute is always in the lifted position, getting in the way of mounting or dismounting the mower and it catches on trees, etc. that i am mowing around.
2) the blade housing has a straight edge on the left side of the unit making it difficult to mow close to trees, rock edging, etc without catching it on them. My older unit had a rounded housing which made it much more convenient to mow around these items.
Overall it's a good Toro-built unit that runs and cuts good. The cut is more even than my old mower and there is plenty of power to move through it. I also like the fact the tractor goes much faster than the old one.

Expert Response
A mulching blade cuts the grass into fine little pieces so they compost quickly on your lawn. If the grass is very thick, or damp, it can bog down the blade. Cutting a smaller swath and/or waiting until the grass is very dry may help keep this from happening.

replace zero turn for this mower
By Charlie F.
lawrenceville, Georgia
Review Posted 04/26/2012
We got rid of our yard service & decided that we would buy a zero turn. My husband was 73 & I was 60, bad mistake. We could never get use to the controls, 1st I ran over rose bush & husband didn't do much better. We sold it to our next door neighbor & got the lawn tractor that we both love. The lawn looks so good that even our neighbor with the zero cut is impressed. He can buzz his lawn in a few minutes & we take our time. We would recommend this mower to young & the OLD.

My Toro has its own house

I'd been mowing my 2 acres of lawn with a worn out Craftsman that left an uneven look no matter how many times I went back over it. I would get the smooth, golf course look only when I used my 1991 Toro Workhorse. But it is 25" and would take so-o-o much longer to do. I made a plan to get a brand new shed up this summer and I would store the Workhorse inside it and a new 42" Toro if I could find one.
The local dealer told me he didn't sell the traditional riding mowers anymore because everybody only wanted the zero turn type. He was right. I looked everywhere. Left my name and number with a lot of people. Nothing...Enter Mowers Direct! Now I had quite a few Toro choices in the style I wanted all along. I get to make payments too.
My new mower gives my lawn the smooth look I love. I love the larger fuel tank. The ride is a little too bumpy though so I'm thinking I need to let air out of the tires. I've only gotten to use it twice because it's been raining a lot here in Virginia. Today, my 2 Toros live in the new shed and all is as it should be.
Thank-you Mowers Direct! Renee

Mower Story

Lost mower along with house in hurricane Ike. Moved into new house several months ago and needed a new riding mower so I ordered one through Mowers Direct. Got fast delivery right to my new house.
Assembled the few parts not already put together. Missing bolts for the seat assembly, but a quick trip to the hardware store and $2 took care of that. Checked the oil, added gas and was cutting grass that afternoon. Everything is getting back to normal, a good feeling

Great Mower
By Thomas Y.

Review Posted 10/31/2010
I purchased my second hand,(3 weeks old and 7 hrs. on the meter !).This is the first riding mower I've owned, but saying that, this mower does EVERYTHING that you could want! Starts easily, is easy to operate, the deck wash system Toro has, works fantastic! I installed the mulcher accessory ( $ 70.00 ) ,expensive for what you get,but it works.

I purchased this mower and I am pleasantly surprised at how well it operates.
It is very nice and would recommend for anyone looking for mower with tight turns and ease of operation. I give it 5 stars.
