Great Mower!

This is our 3rd Toro self-propelled mower, with each lasting about 10 years. The mower was delivered on time and was easy to unpack. We added the oil, gas, and thought the battery would need charging for the electric start but it was already fully charged. It started immediately and what a difference. This model was more expensive than some of the others but the aluminum deck changes everything compared to our previous models. It is so much lighter which was the first thing that made me happy. We definitely wanted the electric start, like our previous models, as we are now getting older and it was just smart to add that feature. Having a history with the Toro mowers now for over 20 years, this manufacturer has hit the mark with their products. This model allows you to easily fold the handles for storage saving floor space in our garage. The washout connection is so convenient and we run the blades which washes out the deck completely before storing. So nice to NOT have that wet grass smell in the garage any more. On our old mower we had to tilt the mower (took two people) to wash away the grass and now I don't have to have help. The price was more than the other models but the savings from free shipping and no tax completely justified moving up to this model. Happy Mowing!

Apart from pricey, this mower is excellent in all departments of mowing. Then again, you get what you pay for it. Pricey but worth every penny of it.
I have a permanent disability on my right hand, so a electric start option was a must! Although I did try to pull-start with my left hand. The result was in almost half a pull, it started very easily.
Mulching: Excellent.
Bagging: Very Good! Although grass clippings in my bag were quite fine and small, they were a bit larger than in the mulching process.
Side Discharge: Excellent! Clippings are ejected far enough and very small clippings almost disappeared on the lawn.
Because of the non-rusting aluminum deck, its overall weight is only about 95 lbs which is excellent on a hilly portions of my lawn. Rear wheel drive also helps climb up the hilly slope effortlessly.
The only option, I wish Toro had considered was that they would at least given consumers a choice of "Swivel wheels" in the front. With swivel wheels this mower would have been a 360 degrees perfect.

To Expensive to Have these issues

I bought the Toro mower because I had previously owned two that were good mowers. I decided to go with the Electric start model. I purchased it on October 15, 2010, and used the mower twice. It had some issues starting, I really didn't think anything about it, thought it was new, and would get better. When I went to mow my yard the first time this spring, the mower wouldn't start, no I didn't leave any gas in the tank, and yes I put fresh gas in the tank. I took it back to the dealer. They informed me that the carb was bad, along with the linkage. It took almost 4 weeks to get the parts to fix it, and of course they were backed up with other customers mowers in for service, so 6 weeks later, I get the mower back. It still has some issues starting, takes two or three turns of the starter to get it to start and it has a slight hesitation while running. I called dealer, they said it would get better, NOT SO! After using mower for last 2 months, it's still doing the same thing. Now I'm noticing that it is leaving a thin path of unmowed grass, just left of the base where the blade attaches to the mower, that just pushes the gas down, doesn't cut it, so I have go over my yard twice when mowing. This happens 100% of the time, I mulch, so I mow yard quite frequently, not letting my grass get to long. This mower is a complete disappointment, after owning two Toro's previously, and liking them, I can no longer recommend them. Paying $649.00 for a mower and have these issues arise so soon after buying it, makes me think, these mowers are not the same quality, as my other Toro's.

I have shoulder problems and am prevented from using a pull type starter lawn mower. After checking Consumer Reports about the best available all purpose lawn mower I began looking for the Toro 20095 and found an electric start at F&J Small Engine Repair, Manassas, VA. I purchased the mower on March 31st, 2010, charged it over night and used it for the first time on April 2nd, 2010. I cut our lawn 26 times this year with many stops and restarts. The last cut was on November 26th, 2010. The mower started just as quickly the last time as it did the first time. When I turn the key it cycles about twice before it kicks in. The mower will go as fast or as slow as you wish and is a power house. It mulches the grass into small clippings. I mulch only. It may seem a little pricy, but I paid for it over the summer doing my own lawn.
What do I not like about it:
1. The height adjustment is instead of being able to set it at the recommended cutting heigth of 3" you can only set it for 2 3/4" or 3 1/4. The heights go from 1 1/4" up to 4 1/4" but never on an even inch. If you cut your whole yard with it everything is OK. However, I use it mostly for trimming big areas of grass and have a tractor to cut other areas. I can only set the tractor for 2.5", 3", 3.5". If I cut the outside of the yard with the Toro and the rest with the tractor I can see the difference in thick grass.
2. The handles you use to raise or lower the cutting height have rubber tabs on the end. I have lost one cutting under bushes. It would be helpful if they were glued on.
I would buy this mower again without any hesitation.

Do not Buy This Lawn Mower

Terrible, terrible mower. I bought a 20095 Electric and the Electric start rarely starts it, so I pull start it. No big deal to pull start, but I have no primer so I have to use the electric start that does not work to prime it to pull start. Now, it does not start AT ALL! It is 3 months old.

I highly recommend this mower.
I've been fighting with a pull rope mower for years. I charged the mower for 24 hours and it started on first turn of the key. I can turn it off and start it again--no stalling or flooding.
The bag is easy to pull and empty, and it has excellent leaf mulching and pickup.
The self-propelled part works perfectly. Some reviews said it was hard to get used to. My other mower was self-propelled, but this one is better. I use a velcro strap on the handle to keep it running while I empty the bag.
I hesitated to get the key version because I was not sure how well it worked, but now it is my favorite reason for getting it. No more sore arms! It also has a pull rope for emergency starting, but I don't expect to need it.
The spark plug is in a good place, too. On my old mower plug placement was difficult.
The mower took about 20 minutes to set up, no tools were needed.
I suggest you read the instructions for general info but I did the assembly without the book... it's that easy.
I hope you like it as well as I do.
