You cant keep this machine running. It starts with one pull, but dies in 20 seconds. As long as you prime it will start. When the gas in the carburetor is used up it dies every time!

Piece of junk

Carb is trash, I run straight gas, no ethinol fuel and always run unit out of fuel when finished. Still have to pull carb off and disassemble. I find no evidence of trash in carb, but after blowing out jets with air and reassembling, unit runs fine. I do this every time I use the edger. I had to change the belt one time, it was very difficult. Poor design causes belt to shread. Would not recommend buying this edger.

Crap

Same issue as everyone else, ran good the first year. The second year it wouldn't stay running. Tossed it in the trash. Never buy a Troy Bilt again.

Bought this model last year. Ran fine the first year. Then would not start tried for weeks to start but to no avail. Took in in for service worked one week then quit. Not enough power to do weekend edging.

I've had four of these and they simply do not run well

I'm on my fourth and last unit. The price is good but these units do not run well at all. They run fine for about two or three months and then the carburetor fails.

The unit will start and run for a few minutes and then the motor starts to run fast and slow fast and slow until it dies. I've had the last one worked on twice and the mechanic told me the unit is irreparable.

When they do run they work really well but the carburetors are simply junk.

Very satisfied. Starts 1st pull. Cuts good crisp edge with little effort. Have had other Troy-Bilt products and they always deliver a quality finished product.
Love my edger.

Pros:
Easy To Use, Quiet, Fast, I'd Buy It Again
Hard to start

3 years--had it in for service by 2 different BD dealers. Runs at a speed preset and you cannot adjust..bogs down...hard to change belt -
Needs more power. Very hard to start -even after the service. Must take of air cleaner and push primer 6 times or more to see gas go into carb..then pull cord, it will start and must put air cleaner back on.

Pain..but Lowes will not take it back or fix- So must go on with this problem or sell to someone who does not know of it.
