Purchase And Installation Of Wayne CWS100
By Pinckney W
Tennessee
Purchased 12/04/2023 |
Review Posted 12/28/2023
As a handy homeowner, I found the pump easy to install. I was replacing an older model Wayne pump. I e-mailed the seller and called Wayne a number of times. The 110/220 voltage adjustment didn't match the installation manual, and the manual was not clear about wiring the pressure switch. I likely could have used trial-and-error, but I didn't want to break anything, so I called Wayne. They were able to tell me what I needed to know. So, it all went pretty well. Calls would not have been necessary if the manual had shown the correct voltage adjustment, and the correct wiring for the pressure switch. Since I installed it, the pump has been completely fine: efficient and relatively quiet.

Pump lasted just over 3 years. The warranty only covers 3 years, wayne would not cover any parts or service.

Expert Response
Very sorry this product didn't meet your expectations. Depending on the application area and mineral content of water being pumped, a 3-5 year lifespan on a pump at this price point is probably within the normal range. Unfortunately they don't make pumps like they use to.

I Would Not Recommend This Pump

Unfortunately the pump is slowly falling apart, making noises, fan fell off shaft, taking longer to build up pressure, and surging. I contacted Wayne pumps many times through email and phone. They are very nice but refuse to warranty the pump due to it being out of warranty. Unfortunately it only carries a 3 year warranty, and it started falling apart days after of course.

This pump works well in my 90 ft. well. Birney Shelly is an excellent plumber in the Tryon, NC area. Now all I need is a better bladder tank. Thanks Birney!

This pump was a direct replacement for a frozen pump in a foreclosure. Everything was identical in placement and installation was a breeze. I wish the rest of the plumbing was this easy and direct.

Enclosed picture shows completed installation. One point of view for future customers would be to start with low pressure and/or work up to higher pressure. Blew connections until pressure was lowered. Ended with 31 psi as a final setting for our purposes.

Electrical ground connection's too close to live wires. Overall function of pump is acceptable.

Product Questions Answered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
Hi Jim, I am looking for a replacement well pump for a vacation home located in northern/lower Michigan. The current model details: Wagner 1-1/2 hp Model #056-40250-01 Type RK 3450 RPM 115 Volts 14.8 Amps The pump unfortuantely is over 60yrs old and has cracks in the housing. The pump was used for years at the family's cabin but in 2002 was re-installed with the new constrution (same well though). It has been a great pump and I am having a hard time finding the same HP pump. Our well depth is 150ft. Any advise you can lend would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
