Lasted Less Than A Year
By Shane M.

Review Posted 07/21/2021
Purchased this unit last summer to water a new section of lawn. It ran well for a few weeks and then I drained it and stored it in a heated garage for the summer. This summer when I went to start it, the motor was seized. I was able to loosen it and get it running, but after a couple of weeks it began to overheat and then began dropping broken pieces of fin on the platform it sits on. It ran well when it did, but the overall quality for what I paid is terrible.

Very sorry you had issues with your pump. Typically, the damaged you described is a result of debris getting into the pump body. Unfortunately this can happen with any pump. Wayne provides a 1-Year Warranty on this pump and can be contacted directly @ (800) 237-0987

Not Sure What ToThink

We bought this pump to replace one that died and it is being used for a sprinkler system off of an irrigation ditch. I have not been able to even use it yet. We hooked everything up and it runs nice and quiet but we couldn't ever get it to actually pump any water. The priming port is in a really crappy spot and difficult to fill and prime to get water to pull. We made the attempt three times were never successful and now there is no water in the irrigation ditch. I am not sure yet if I will send it back or not as I can't figure out if it is defective or if we have another issue. Very frustrated at this point... don't really recommend as like I said I can not get it to work right. I messaged customer support before I purchased to make sure I got the correct pump and NEVER got an answer. I work sixty hours a week and do not have time to play with the pump for hours to get it to work... The last pump took less than five minutes to set up.

Very sorry to hear you're having problems with your water pump. We rarely see any issues with these Wayne pumps, so the chance of a defective pump is usually very low. For troubleshooting issues, Wayne can be reached directly @ (800) 237-0987.

Works Well As A Circulation Pump
By Christopher H.

Review Posted 09/10/2019
After quite a bit of research i settled on this pump to build a recirculating water system for a counterflow chiller system at a small coffee beverage operation. The pump pushes just fine on a roughly 475 foot loop of 1" pipe, with a 15-20' head and about 18' of coiled ID pipe reduction to 3/8" (pulling from three linked ibc totes.) I'm impressed enough to order another one for a similar system. And the other reviews are right, this thing is very quiet.

Not Sure What To Think
By Mark S.

I recently purchased this to replace one that had worn out. No idea how old it was but it looked in decent shape. I understand much like a pool pump they don't last forever. In this case it is used to pull water from a lake to spray my lawn. The old one worked okay, not great. The replacement was virtually useless except maybe to spay a plant with a garden hose. Unfortunately, it was money down the drain. I then purchased a Wayne 1.5 HP arriving today so who knows at this point.

Affordably Priced, Makes A Great Booster Pump, But Overheats In
By David O.
Sarasota, Florida
Review Posted 06/15/2019
I purchased this in 2016 as a lawn sprinkler *Booster* Pump - something it is not advertised for. Its sits at the end of 350' of pipe from a deep well 1 1/2HP 25 GPM pump at 60 PSI. This Wayne pump moves the water another 400' to the sprinkler heads. With this Wayne pump, my pressure increased to 60 PSI from 40 PSI at the sprinkler heads, and flow increases to 20 GPM from 13 GPM at the furthest sprinkler heads. It works very well as a booster pump, moving the water faster, at higher volumes and at higher pressure, beyond its specifications. 20 PSI increase means about 15' further each sprinkler head can spray, reducing watering time and uneven coverage. The pump is very quiet when running.

The only thing preventing me giving it 5 stars, is that it overheats in hot weather, resulting in an 70-80% duty cycle, while it shuts down to cool off. (eg. 20 mins on, 5 mins off) I have it installed in the shade, under trees and powered by a dedicated 20A 120v circuit with 12 gauge wiring right to the pump, so I don't believe low voltage is the issue. Hot weather shut off seems to be above 81 degrees F. It will run continuous duty in the cooler evenings, and overnight when temp is 72ish degrees or cooler. I can use the sprinkler timer to work around this issue, but it would be nice to rely on the pump in hot dry day time watering too.

This pump is designed for light duty applications. You might consider a hardwired sprinkler pump which will provide a higher duty cycle compared to this pump.

Good For Garden Hose
By Geoffrey L.

Purchased 07/04/2017 |
Review Posted 07/26/2017
Got the 1" pump to keep the wife happy not running my 1" gasoline pump, she says it is too loud early morning and late night (some times that ends up watering time). Good flow through a 3/4" water hose, but not enough to use with my 1" forestry fire hose. Got to fire up the gasoline for that. It is much quieter, so the wife is happy.

Watering From The Lake
By Paul M.
Lake, Michigan
Purchased 04/26/2017 |
Review Posted 06/07/2017
I got this pump to water are lawn and flowers from the lake we live on. It works great, has great water pressure. Runs the sprinkler, puts the water out over 50'. I put a one way shut off valve on the input pipe and have used up to 100' hose on the output. This is a great pump to water your yard with.

I am looking for a pump to transfer water from a 250 gallon tank to a hose to do hand watering. I am worried about over pressuring the hose when you want to turn the nozzle off for a few minutes while you move around.
