Wish I had this check valve on my line when I replaced my pump 10 years ago. It truly is quiet. There is no thump (or any sudden noise) when the flow stops and the valve shuts. All we hear now is the expected rush of water when the pump starts, and the trickle when the water below the valve retreats into the crock (this is not valve leakage). The clear body is nicer than expected. You get a good view of the valve working when the water flows and what settles above the valve when the flow stops. Seeing the brown water is gross, but the view will be helpful for trouble shooting later.
Installation tip: A pair of oil filter strap wrenches worked well for tightening the large union connections - the straps do not mar the pvc.

Why don't they make all check valves like this? After 5 years and two different check valves, finally no more slamming shut and rattling the entire house after the sump pump kicks in. Easy installation and super quiet performance.

Went from a valve that you could hear through the whole house to this one that is so quiet you can't hear anything unless you are next to the sump pump. Great product, easy to install and it is really quiet.

Sump Pump Backflow Preventer

For many years we have heard the loud "ka-thunk" of our old backflow preventer. It would wake us up during the night. After replacing it with this silent preventer, we have been pleased with the way it performs. It is very silent and we can now get a good night's sleep!

Had a standard big box check valve installed previously by a plumber when the sewage basin was originally set up. I’m not sure of the brand but it thumped and vibrated the PVC piping. The plumber installed just adequate equipment. About 5 years past and decided to upgrade the equipment primarily due to the lid leaking sewage smell when the roof vent pipes ice capped in sub freezing temperatures.
The Zoeller check valve is extremely quiet, does not thump or vibrate and provides a visual of how it’s working. It also is installed as a compression fitting so change out would be easy too if needed. Very pleased with it performance so far.
