Good Pump, Check Valve Issue
By Adriaan H.

Review Posted 11/10/2023
Quoting another customer review since I had the exact same issue: "This 'preassembled' system is OK, just know you might need to work with it a bit. Mine arrived with a broken check valve on one of the pumps."
The check valve broke at the bottom when the installer removed the unit from the packaging. The fitting design is completely inadequate but the installer was able to purchase a replacement for $35 at Home Depot. Other than that the design makes perfect sense: a non mechanical, non vertical float primary pump and a secondary pump working off of the battery. The stainless housing pf the primary pump was a selling point for me.

Great Drop In Unit

This unit replaced to standard 120v sump pumps that were constantly having issues after 5 years of use. Due to the location of the house there are times when it is storming that the power goes out but they need to keep the water out of the wine cellar. This unit dropped in super straight forward and made for fast install and we have not had a single issue since install. Would highly recommend this unit to others.

Complete Failure After One Month. Water In The Sump Was Hot.
By Stephen M.

Review Posted 02/15/2020
This unit worked for one month but then failed completely. I am in the middle of trying to repair the piping that failed. The part that failed in the plastic pipe connection to the pump. I believe it is the check valve housing and it appears to be a special check valve that will take time to order. So, this unit will have to go back in with the temporary repair and then come out again for a final repair. I'm just in the middle of this but wanted to send this note. I was very careful to install this unit. The design defect is heavy pumps hanging on this plastic fittings. This is a piping assembly design defect.

Expert Response
Very sorry to hear you're having problems with your pump system. Based on the problems you described, it doesn't appear this was installed correctly. The primary pump should always be set on the bottom of the sump pit. The pump should not be hanging from the pump fitting. Additional pipe might be required (not included) to allow this system to sit on the bottom of the sump pit. For additional troubleshooting, iON Products can be reached directly @ (800) 323-1665.

Good Pumps But Arrived Broken
By Derek W.

Review Posted 07/30/2019
I have used Ion pumps before and am very happy with them overall. This 'preassembled' system is OK, just know you might need to work with it a bit. Mine arrived with a broken check valve on one of the pumps. The check valve flap itself was missing, I found it in the shipping box outside valve housing. No clue how this happened. Being broken, Ion was nice enough to send me a replacement check valve but requested photos etc. These ship direct from the manufacturer so hopefully their QC improves.

The Best Sump Pump/Battery-Backup Combo I've Found Available
By Douglas M.

Review Posted 12/18/2018
I purchased the Ion JSPIII about one year ago. I live in an area where the water table is frequently elevated during the year and wanted a reliable system to replace an aging existing sump pump with battery backup. The folks at Sump Pumps Direct were very knowledgeable and helpful in answering my questions. The product was professionally pre-assembled, carefully packaged, and I received it in just a couple days. The remaining installation is straight-forward. It is very quiet compared to my previous pump.
I also purchased the recommended battery from them (12V Maintenance Free Deep Cycle 100AH AGM Battery P2033H). Yes the overall system isn't exactly cheap, but you really get what you pay for and trying to save a few dollars isn't worth the downside of a flooded basement. After a year, I actually purchased a 2nd system (minus battery) just to have on-hand should I encounter a failure. (So not only would I buy it again-- I did buy it again). The electronic pressure switches work great. No need to worry about a tethered float getting stuck.

Best Product With Amount GPH Both Pumps
By Brian S.
Waterloo, Iowa

Review Posted 07/11/2018
This was the best product for the money. The amount per hour that both the 110 volt and 12 volt pumps work at 10 foot lift was rated great. We bought this because we had to be gone and could only test run it. I bought the best battery that was recomended for the set up we have. It was very, very easy to install, and came mostly put together which was nice since I am handicap. At this point I would rate this one of the top ones. They also had several other models which looked just as good, but felt this would meet our needs for years to come. Only time will tell, but I have no reason to think differently. Thank you for this product and how easy it was to install.
