Howdy manufacturers! Jon Hoch, founder of Power Equipment Direct here.
I just got back from the GIE show in Louisville. I got a chance to spend some time with some of you marketers over there.
I love the show for the 3 days, but what a pain in the neck it is to set up and tear down this stuff so you can talk to people for 3 days.
In reality, what you need to do is take all that great materials and content that you create and publish it on our site so that you can get it seen for 3 years with hundreds of thousands of people rather than 3 days with just a handful of people.
And I want to show you how to do that. I want to show you two reasons why you want to do that.
The first reason is, you might have a product that isn't doing so well. It may have a carburetor issue, there's something not quite right with it. And the earlier edition may have had problems, but you've since fixed it, but the bad reviews have gone along with it.
The folks at Generac had that similar instance in which there's 24 reviews that came in, and this was actually a D-rated product UNTIL the folks at Generac were smart enough to go in and write a review.
So Brian Sun went ahead and wrote a review that says, "yes, we identified the issue and we've since corrected the issue by doing this, this, this, and this." And the cool thing is, on our sites, the manufacturer review shows up first before the customer can see all of the negative stuff.
So you get a chance to clear the air and make everything okay. And plus, it helped the letter grade get a little bit better.
It didn't go to an A, and it's not going to an A, but it went from a D to a C- by participating in this.
The second reason you're going to want to write manufacturer reviews is, let's be honest, we want to sell some stuff, right?
So, Rolair has actually been doing a really good job of using our website to publish their information to help grow their sales and their rankings.
So you'll notice that our expert, Steve Robbins, recommends this product. And he wrote why he likes this model, and it actually is really good and helpful. Buy why not have some information from the manufacturer as well.
So now through the Manufacturers' Portal, you can actually create this stuff. So Kale has written 4 reviews with 108 helpful votes, and he wrote a nice article, but what I think I like even more about this is he actually shot a YouTube video highlighting the features and benefits and why you should buy this product and why it's great, and this is free to you. It costs you nothing to do this, all you have to do is spend the time to do it.
So what did Kale do? Let me show you.
So you go into our Manufacturers' Portal, and here are the 4 reviews that they've written. And you'll notice that, um, look at this.
We've got an A, A+, A-, A, three of which are recommended. So, it's helping the letter grade here by writing a review. But it's helping the sales too.
So how do you do it? You just click on the product that you want to write a review for. And then, fill in a form. That's simple, right?
So you have the ability to upload some images if you want. You have the ability, and this is what he did, he shot a YouTube video and published it, and just put the link in there. And then identified who he is and all of the great features and benefits of this particular product.
It's not hard, you can do it. And I think it'd be wise for you to do it. It'd really help you increase your rankings, and to also help sell some products.
So in our next video, we're going to talk about how to respond to those negative reviews, and what's the best practices on how to take care of some of those customers who aren't so happy.
Thanks for listening, and we'll see you in the next one.
